Crawley Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Soft Southern bastards. It snows once every blue moon and the place comes to a standstill. About 8 inches of snow here, never stopped me getting Tarquin & Jemima off to prep school this morning. Erm, isn't that why it does come to a standstill? Ill prepared for something that last happend 10 years ago? Also, I've seen less snow in Bolton and had people who live in Blackburn and Darwin hightail it home in case the buses stop due to a light dusting.
Traf Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Ill-prepared? Don't make me laugh. There was ample warning from last Wednesday onwards that the snow was coming. 4 days not long enough?
Traf Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 PS People in Blackburn & Darwen tend to be 6-fingered hillbilly inbred fuckwit mutants, so you can hardly hold them up as an example.
YATESY Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Snow predicted in the Stoke area or is that locals receiving an emergency drop of charlie?
Smiley Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 coming down thick and fast in Bolton town centre right now. Parish Church has a fair old coating on it already! Orange ball tonight?

frank_spencer Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 www.bolton.gov.uk/wintergritting you can have your say for this years gritting Residents and road users are being asked for their views on winter gritting in Bolton. In light of last winter?s difficult conditions, Bolton Council is reviewing its approach to gritting, and wants feedback on its service. A survey asking people for their views on the policy is available online at www.bolton.gov.uk/wintergritting or call the consultation and research team on 01204 332012 to obtain a paper copy. Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, Bolton Council?s Executive Member for Environmental Services, said: ?We know it may seem a bit daft to be talking about winter gritting in May but we want to know what the public see as priorities before we put together our next winter gritting scheme. He added: ?We do grit around half of our total road network, which is more than a lot of other local authorities. Following some of the most severe weather conditions in 20 years, the council actually spent an extra ?580,000 last winter to make roads and footpaths safer for local residents and road users.? There are currently 25 gritting routes totalling 430km of road, and around 30 to 40 tonnes of salt are used each time the routes are gritted. The council also places 533 grit bins around the borough. Council crews work around the clock if there is snow forecast or if the temperature of the road surface is anticipated to freeze. The Winter Scrutiny committee, comprising councillors from all the Council?s political parties, will look all the feedback received and use this as a basis to make recommendations for the next winter gritting maintenance scheme. These will be then developed further during an Environmental Services Policy Development Group. The closing date for feedback is Friday, June 13.
no balls Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) www.bolton.gov.uk/wintergritting you can have your say for this years gritting I saw that in the Bolton the other day. So after the winter gritting debarcle they're admitting they were shit and now the weather's ok they'll think we've forgotten what a poor job they did and the bullshit about the wrong salt etc. Do they think we're stupid? I think the irony here is that Bolton Council actually react at the speed of a glacier

no balls Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Eh? they're asking you to have your say what part of that makes them 'think we're stupid' Waiting so long, like we'll have forgotten how much they fucked up, how they blatantly lied and how arrogant they were in their response. This should've been done 2 weeks after the debarcle, not 3 or 4 months.

I'm Guessing this is being done at the request of the new councillor in charge Mr Ibrahim, he was only put in post a couple of week ago

frank_spencer Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 If that be true, then there in lies the problem. If he hadn't have done this, would anything change? All the structure behind it was changed right there and then in the week after the initial fuck up was made.
no balls Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 All the structure behind it was changed right there and then in the week after the initial fuck up was made. Then I must've missed their apology to the good people of the Borough!
