Some 5 years ago over a few beers I had a long chat with an ex colleague and red scouser friend (honest lad) about that day. He was one of many without a ticket who was on the lash early doors, and determined to blag their way in. By many he reckoned there were at least 2000 "lads" who turned up 20 mins before KO pissed and determined to force their way in.

 

When I heard what went on last season at the emirates in the Champions league QF I just reflected on what he said and shook my head. These people never learn and when it does happen its never their fault.

aye, and look at Athens in 2007.

But the trouble is the media just egg them on - in the build up to that final I heard comments on R5 etc to the effect of how the cheeky, happy-go-lucky scousers would always find a way to follow their team. Yeh, but then when there were genuine fans who missed out on getting in to that final despite having tickets either because they couldn't get in or had them nicked by people who were supposedly their own (and I know a Liverpool fan who went and saw plenty of that) when they got tear gassed for their trouble or crushed in overcrowded areas of the ground after getting in, did R5 reflect on their earlier comments? Did they fook. They just carry on with the same drivel.
