adambwfc Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 The reason he gets stick on a regular basis is because he isnt actually playing very well. Not his fault he keeps being selected, moved onto the wing in the second half then subbed yet again. I dont believe that fans are stupid. Bolton fans probably have more knowledge than most IMO, and they can recognise when a player so badly out of form is continually put in the spotlight to hopefully justify a fee- or not. If it's not his fault, why keep booing the lad? Maybe if we are supportive, he might start playing better.
Garrp Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 he did say "Its scary how little people on this site know about football." on page 2 of this thread and similar on more than one occasion of late I watch loads of porn doesn't make me don juan that's just coincidental im not claiming to be the font of all knowledge someone said something along the lines of..."we dont need a prolific goalscorer, just someone who can score 15" i think that backs up my claim about how little some people on this site know
Russell Sprout Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 If it's not his fault, why keep booing the lad? Maybe if we are supportive, he might start playing better. Maybe if like any other player who was so badly struggling for form and fitness he was given time away from the spotlight to regain some of it. If we had 10 other players in that team who've played so ineffectively for the past few months we would have been relegated by early March.

I agree, maybe he should, but the booing obviously isn't helping.

What do you see in Elmander that we are all missing that brings you to the conclusion that he has had a good season? Am I the only one who thinks hes had a good season?
Russell Sprout Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 But we havnt been relegated JSL I think we're all adult enough to understand the arguement. Do you keep playing someone off form in the hope that it will eventually come right, or do you give them a rest on the bench for a while. Much better players than Elmander have been dropped and come back better players.
no balls Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I dont believe that fans are stupid. Bolton fans probably have more knowledge than most IMO I beg to differ on that point.

Much better players than Elmander have been dropped and come back better players. I mentioned earlier in the thread that Elmander would be a good player having the right service, Megson has spent big on him and pereseveres with him due to the fee he paid. The lads lacking confidence so Meggo is trying to stand by him by putting faith in him by starting him, we are safe there are two games left, Smorleks off and Makkapakka aint great so for now let Johan finish the season in a starting spot, let him go away on holiday, buy some additional quality come back in July and get him scoring pre season ready for the start of the new season. Happy Days.

Casino Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 It does make you a prize wanker though no, thats just coincidental, too

Casino Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 when was he boo'ed? oh perleeeeease! booed, slagged off, calls of 'oh fcuk off elmander' all fall into the same pot for me all eminate from wankers if he wasn't trying, hes fair game
Horwich Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 So he gets slagged off and not boo'ed. Yeh, I've heard people slag him off.
desperado Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 We are all looking into this far too deeply. I mean fancy looking at form, goalscoring ratio, his seasons contribution, his injury hit season and lack of tactical preparation in the last 3rd to bring the best out of him. HE WILL COME GOOD ON SATURDAY. The reason for this is based on one very simple scientific formula that regular WWayers are aware of. Player slumping in form + A YATESY SLAGGING OFF THREAD = The player coming good

Guest Holly_Goodhead Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I don't remember Garp claiming to be a football expert? However, he does regularly watch more football than all the posters on this thread put together Instead of defending the cock, who in my opinion shit out of the debate when it got too difficult for him answer this. Why won't he explain why he thinks Elmander has had a good season?

Seems you're being the cock if you expect me to answer why someone else won't explain themselves...how am I supposed to do that?

That is a big whole load of horseshit. You thought Elmander was left footed, shows how much you know!

postman pat Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think Elmander is another example of a Megson signing with no great forethought as to how to get the best out of him. Surely if a club of our size is going to spend that much money on him then he should have been the focal point? Square pegs & round holes spring to mind!!
Russell Sprout Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 That is a big whole load of horseshit. You thought Elmander was left footed, shows how much you know! I'll give you that it is hard to tell which is his strongest foot as he's barely capable of controlling a ball, but didnt he score a couple of nice left footed goals up in the NE back in November? I've obviously not studied him as much as you have but he seems to prefer the ball on his left.
