Surely Eidur Gudjohnsen would be a better option for us nearly as good a player but 4 years younger knows the club and the fans already love him, surely for 70 k a week he would be interested and he could play here for 5 more years.

Scholes has always been a dirty bastard some of his fouls have been so crude they could be described as in the Roy Keane mold. He would have had a lot more red cards throughout his career if he hadn't been playing for Sir Alex's team. As these types of players reach a certain age they tend to foul even more to compensate for their lack of speed. He is a three match suspension waiting to happen.

Joey Barton would be a far better proposition than this mon, I believe he would have a better future disciplinary record than Scholes, age is on his side and the fact that he isn't an ex-Scum weighs in his favour for me.

Yes many people have had checkered past and with maturity changed for the better, however do BWFC really need Joey Barton? for me his ability is only average, I have never seen him get the better of Kevin Nolan, add that to the baggage and the large wage he would command, I would not touch Barton with a barge pole, further more I will be really pissed off with Megson and the club if that is the best we can do in the transfer market.

I'd have Joey Barton at Bolton, he might have had a dodgy past but he is only young and i think we could get him to calm down and become a better player. It would be great if Scholes came but i dunno, i cant see it happening.

I think Barton is a massive talent. Without his personal temperamen/ baggage history would be a definite for the England squad. That is what has ballsed him up.

I agree. He kept the Stuart Pearce City side up on his own when Steve Wigley was his coach. He was a great paaser of the ball and has good mobility. That's why he became an England international and it's just what we need.

 

His injuries, brother's ice axe attack, detention at HMP, playing for Newcastle, and stupidity haven't helped him.

 

Is he worth a shot? On balance, yes. Especially if you can put something in his contract to make sure that he bahaves.

Now I am not naive enough to believe that fights don't break out on the training grounds of other clubs but Barton is the only one who is being sued for assault by another player as a result of a fight at a Man City traing session. This coupled with the fact that Barton thought it a good idea to stub a lit cigar in the eye of a junior player who may well have been being a cheeky so and so, does not bode well for dressing room harmony. I for one don't want him anywhere near Bolton Wanderers.

Huddlestone is a very good player. Reminds me a lot of the way Hierro played, sits and sprays the ball around for fun, got a beast of a shot on him as well. If he has players around him that will do the running (Muamba, Davies, possibly even McCann) then he would be a very good signing for us IMO.

 

I would personally be very happy with Scholes, Huddlestone or Barton, but if I had the choice then it would be in that order.
