Transfer Update

Current situation on a few transfer targets.

Veloso

We are trying to tie up a ?6 million deal for him in the next few weeks and Sporting seem keen on it but him and his agent arent too keen and are trying to get a "bigger" move.

Distin

Has other options and is very unlikely to come to us.

Sean Davis

Battling with Wigan, Blackburn and Sunderland to sign him on a free.

Paul Robinson

This is most likely of the four to happen for obvious reasons.

Come on you whites =D>

any ews tylswhite?

Nothing concrete yet, it will be on here as soon as I know anything.

I see that Blackburn are in for Sean Davis too.

Is this the first of a few possible signings that Megson and Big Sam will be going head-to-head on this summer?

If Megson trumps Big Sam on a few of them, it may just help to shut-up the anti-Megson camp a little.

Good Pros with premier league experience are as important as the big names, take players like Simon Charlton he was superb for BWFC and I will be happy to see good honest pros like Robinson join our club, just what we need.

Mounts, I love your positivity, but Robinson is distinctly average

And so was Charlton.

We have to have some average players, players who give there all are worth there weight in gold there workrate rubs off on other players, many times these type of players are my favourite type of players,

Quite right, Mounts.

But our problems are elsewhere in the team/squad, so I'll be saving my excitement for a while longer.

If you read the BN, our hopes of signing Davis are under threat from Blackburn

BLACKBURN Rovers have emerged as Wanderers? major rivals in the race to sign Sean Davis.

The Portsmouth midfielder is out of contract at Fratton Park and looks likely to be available on a free transfer when the window reopens on July 1.

Gary Megson has kept tabs on the 29-year-old since having a ?2million bid turned down for him in January, and he remains the favourite to bring the former Fulham player to the Reebok next month.

But The Bolton News also understands Sam Allardyce is planning an offer that could snatch Davis from under the noses of his former club.

But according to Blackburn's Vital site, its almost a done deal:

Blackburn Rovers are understood to have been beaten (or supposedly will be) to the signature of Sean Davis by Bolton Wanderers.

The 29-year-old has rejected an offer of a new contract with Portsmouth and speculation has linked him to a move to Ewood Park. However, according to newspaper reports today the midfielder is looking more likely to move to the Reebok Stadium. Bolton had tried to sign Davis in January but he wasn't allow him to leave Fratton Park.

Sunderland and Wigan Athletic along with Glasgow Rangers are also understood to be interested in the former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur player.

Worth a punt @ 2 million

Only speculation on my part of course, but I imagine Megson thought he was well rid - for a variety of reasons - and won't be in any rush to bring him back.

IMO not worth any punt. We need skill, passing quality, pace and/or organisational ability in midfield ......... sounds like three (OK, four) X's to me.

...to go down.

Fair play to Charlton he gave 100% every game for us but if we are to improve as a team we need better players than Simon Charlton and Paul Robinson.

I dont have a problem with Robinson, Hes a good solid full back and he puts in a decent cross which is where he is better than Samuel imo. Charlton was a decent player who did a very good job, shame we had to sell him for not keeping his mouth shut.

Come on folks.... keep this to transfer news and slag off our existing players, manager and board in another thread please.

According to The Times :-

He will look at Tom Huddlestone, David Bentley, Darren Bent, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Gareth Bale as possible departures. Levy may have other ideas about selling Huddlestone and Bale because of their age. Spurs have told Huddlestone that they rate him, but he is frustrated that he started the first ten matches of Redknapp's reign, but then was largely on the fringes. I am reliably informed he is not interested in joining Bolton.

Never said anything of the sort.

Worthy of their place in the team at that moment in time, yes.

Getting 'shut' - no way did I say that.

The next one on the radar?

Bolton aim to pip Birmingham to the signing of Argentine star Lucas Biglia.

Birmingham were in pole position to tie up a deal for the Anderlecht man. But Trotters boss Gary Megson is now in the race for the ?6million-rated play-maker.

Lucas Rodrigo Biglia (born January 30, 1986) is an Argentine footballer, currently playing for RSC Anderlecht.

He has been touted as one of the stars to watch out for in the 2010 World Cup. Biglia has been capped for the Argentina Under-20 team where he won the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship alongside Barcelona's star Lionel Messi.

He is a player often compared to Andrea Pirlo due to the way he plays the game. Biglia has a good passing range, high positional sense and a calm head. The reason he chose Anderlecht instead of one of the bigger European teams is that he wanted a team that guarantees him first team football allied to the added bonus of playing in the UEFA Champions League, thus building a name for himself rather than sitting on the bench. As a result, he has been a regular fixture in the Anderlecht starting eleven, alongside 2007 Czech recruit Jan Pol?k.

If you look at all the players that we have ben linked with bar Robinson, other bigger clubs we more resources have delared an interest, therefore it is going to be very difficult for Megson to bring in the players he wants, I hope that the fans appreciate these difficulties, we are not a big draw for players so let us hope we get patience from our supporters.
