maybe gardner gets looked after and i'm not sure lee is ready for 3 games in a week

but generally, id stick with as few changes as possible

if steinnson is working his arse off, maybe give him a run to keep him on side

according to this article it looks as though ali al habsi will be starting the game. I expect megson to have a few changes for the game as i think he will be taking the game against chelsea at the reebok more seriously (it is the league ater all)

the team i think he will play (would personally like to see given a run out on wednesday) will be:

Al Habsi

Steinsson, Shittu, A O'B, Robinson

Riga, M Davis, McCann, Gardner

Elmander, Klasnic

I hope Al Habsi and steinsson play. McCann and Davis are both due a game as is Paul Robinson. Riga has been speaking to the press about wanting a game to prove himself so would like to see him slot into the lee role on the right wing. Would also like to see how Elmander (if fit) and Klasnic work as a pairing. I think it's important to give players like Jussi, Cahill, Knight, Muamba, Taylor, SKD a bit of a break as they have played in almost all (if not all) our games this season.

I'm not saying that this team would win, probably far from it. Just hope that whatever team megson puts out gives a good account (and doesn't have a drumming like they did against B'Burn). Would far prefer to lose in the cup and win at the reebok

A central defence of AOB and Shittu against Chelsea  They would have to put a cricket scoreboard up for the game.

The only players i would put on the bench would be Lee ting-tong and Gardner because they both looked a bit weary on Sunday, maybe we could bring them on for the last half hour. Everybody else should stay the same imo.

if be VERY suprised if megson made any changed at all (unless there are injuries).

but for the record, i actually prefer the whole rotation idea, to give fringe players a chance. not the whole team, but certainly mix it up a bit.

3 changes and 3 substitutions is enough meddling/rotating IMO.

I would be suprised if more than 4 of those selected above actually start the game. If we are going to the effort to take a large following down, then we should field our strongest possible side

bang on............

Mr Megson has won over a few heads, it would be a disaster if he blew that by fcuking around with a winning team.

If he played this team I'm sure you'd then see it turned into a Megson Out thread for the disrespect shown to the thousands of fans left feeling cheated out of a meaningful game! Remember Lisbon?

If he plays that team he deserves a slap. He isnt stupid and therefore theres no chance he will play that team. He is probably enjoying life for the first time in a few month and he isnt gonna jeapordise that by fucking up the team imo.

i think steinsson, klasnic and m.davies need a run out.

not sure where you fit them in though.

If Megson was to change it and rest a couple, those are the only 3 that could come in for me, the others are not good enough, Elmander as well but not sure how fit he is maybe he could be on the bench, suppose Al Habsi would be another but don't think Megson has used him any any domestic cup games so can't see that happening

getting beat by chelski in the league is no big deal as all the other teams around us will more than likely get beat by them too (i know wiggin won).

we ain't going down and we ain't gonna win the league, lets have a go and try and get to wembely agian

Not sure about the Steinsson one but happy with the other 2, Cohen looked knackered in the second half on Sunday

For me, i'd take a win tomorrow instead of Saturday

I would take the win tomorrow.

i hope the fans don't get on megsons back if we do lose though.

I too would enjoy another trip to Wembley.

Regards the fans getting on Megson's back if we lose; it'll depend entirely on the team put out and the manner of the loss. Second string team hopelesly trounced = Megson out bymost of the sheep.

First team goes down fighting = ovation and lots of "Ginger Morhinho"

STURRIDGE TO START

Posted on: Tue 27 Oct 2009

Carlo Ancelotti will give a full debut to Daniel Sturridge as he makes changes to the side to face Bolton in the Carling Cup.

The Chelsea manager has indicated he will adopt a similar policy to the one used in the previous round against Queens Park Rangers. Then some of the lesser-used squad members were given starts and a few young players were involved.

Sturridge, who has made three sub appearances since his summer switch from Man City, was injured for that third round tie, but now the 20-year-old striker's time has come.

'It is the moment for Sturridge to play and I hope that he will do his best on the pitch,' Ancelotti announced after Tuesday's training.

'We have trust in his quality. He didn't have the possibility in the last month to play but tomorrow I would like to see him at his best.

'I have a lot of players who didn't play a lot of time in the previous games like Sturridge, like Paulo Ferreira, like Joe Cole, like Juliano Belletti, like Alex and I want to use these players to improve their condition. This isn't specifically a competition for young players.'

Ancelotti has listed teenagers Jeffrey Bruma and Fabio Borini as among the subs for Wednesday. Also on the bench will be Nemanja Matic, the 21-year-old Serb midfielder yet to start since he joined in August.

Ruled out injured are Jose Bosingwa, Ashley Cole, Yury Zhirkov, John Mikel Obi and Sam Hutchinson. All have a chance of being fit for the trip to Madrid next week.

Rested for the first meeting with Bolton this week will be John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Nicolas Anelka and Petr Cech.

'The Carling Cup is important because it is the first final of the season and we want to be in this final,' Ancelotti stated. 'It is the first title and we have a good opportunity tomorrow. We change some players but I think we will put on the pitch a very competitive team.'

9 of those 12 will start. Hardly a weak team.

its shit, fookin pub team :D

Atter playing the first choice team in the first 2 rounds i"d be surprised if we make many changes now.

Chelsea rested players in the last round -the league & champions league are probably their priorities - but the players coming in are internationals trying to impress the manager so they should give us a game .

Last season in the 3-4 game SKD terrorised them during the comeback & this season they"ve sometimes struggled with set pieces , so if Taylor & Rickets put quality crosses in , i think we can give them problems.

I"m less confident defensively, & as usual i"d like us to start with McCann or Basham in for Lee or Gardner ,or Muamba could get overrun.

Agree with that, but a defence of those 4 and the 2nd choice keeper gives us at least a good chance of a goal (or 2). Unfortunately they still look a real handful in midfield and attack!

it'll be 7-6.

Ashley Cole, Yury Zhirkov and John Mikel Obi are out

Teenager Fabio Borini is in line for his second start in the competition, John Terry is rested and Frank Lampard will start on the bench.

Were gonna win :yahoo:

I've had ?20 on Bolton @ 11/1 just to keep it exciting
