November 29, 200916 yr Am I right in saying our first ever live televised FA cup tie was against Lincoln at Sincil Bank? I remember it being a saturday evening game. We won Apart from cup finals?
November 29, 200916 yr Am I right in saying our first ever live televised FA cup tie was against Lincoln at Sincil Bank? I remember it being a saturday evening game. We won Yes it was a Saturday evening..if I remember rightly Phil Brown scored a 25 yarder and I think Russell Hoult made his debut for us that game.
November 29, 200916 yr I think Mike Pollitt now Wigan from Bolton made his debut in league football in that game for Lincoln in goal - great chance to progress in cup - good cup run would be brilliant
November 29, 200916 yr I think Mike Pollitt now Wigan from Bolton made his debut in league football in that game for Lincoln in goal - great chance to progress in cup - good cup run would be brilliant Staying in the premiership would be even better... but yeh an FA Cup final would be amazing...and if we played a top 4 team it would give us a another season in Europe win or lose .... we can always dream...
November 29, 200916 yr Huddersfield away, Memories of the fourth round in 1976. How many supporters did we take over pennines that day? (never to be repeated) We had a coach from the Stags Head at Daubhill One of the guys lent against the gates (quite heavy leaning mind ya) and the gate collapsed. Must of been 300 got in for nothing My memory was that we won 1-0 and of the 27000 ish crowd we had about 10000
November 29, 200916 yr Huddersfield away, Memories of the fourth round in 1976. How many supporters did we take over pennines that day? (never to be repeated) That was one of my favorite top ten games watching the whites.Went in the Grand, and John Byrom was in, had a great mither with him. The day of the silly hat, and Peter Reid getting the winner. Attendance was about 27000, with over 15000 coming from Bolton.
November 29, 200916 yr Huddersfield away, Memories of the fourth round in 1976. How many supporters did we take over pennines that day? (never to be repeated) There was a big brawl at the crossroads right in the town centre. It went on for so long a crowd of locals & shoppers gathered to watch on the opposite side of the road.
November 29, 200916 yr Am I right in saying our first ever live televised FA cup tie was against Lincoln at Sincil Bank? I remember it being a saturday evening game. We won I still have that game on video for some strange reason. Remember there was some fighting before the match too. Anyone fancy mobbing up for this one ? Could be quite tasty...
November 29, 200916 yr Here's my take on this: Yes, I remember Northampton. I just hope the club remembers too. We need to go out with a fairly strong side and gain some much-needed confidence for each player. I don't want to play these teams and win by the odd goal because we played three first teamers and a bunch of kids nobody ever heard of. I want to anhialate them. As soon as we start to under-estimate teams like this is the time we get into trouble trying to beat them. They are in a no-lose position. Nobody expects them to do anything, least of all BWFC! They could come out of the starting blocks and attack a weakened side in the first half hour, get two or three goals up and then just sit 11 men behind the ball.

November 29, 200916 yr Huddersfield away, Memories of the fourth round in 1976. How many supporters did we take over pennines that day? (never to be repeated) Another one of those 'you had to be there to appreciate it' matches! I can't remember if it was that match or an earlier one but I remember me and a mate 'thumbing' a lift from outside Burnden to Leeds Road. We got a lift off a couple of lads in a van. After the match we all met up and set off back to Bolton. We were soon surrounded by a load of Huddersfield fans and I feared the worst. The lad who was not driving, pulled out a GUN from the glove compartment and poked it out of the window! Needless to say the Huddersfield fans scattered and we drove back to Bolton without a word spoken!
November 29, 200916 yr Yes it was a Saturday evening..if I remember rightly Phil Brown scored a 25 yarder and I think Russell Hoult made his debut for us that game. No Aiden Davidson was in goal for us. It was live on TV and I recorded it and I'm shown several times sat behind the goal.
November 29, 200916 yr Am I right in saying our first ever live televised FA cup tie was against Lincoln at Sincil Bank? I remember it being a saturday evening game. We won aye stood in an open end, not a great game but then again i was hammered we set off at 10am just so we could get waisted, browny's goal was a screamer annd owen owen owen coyle got the other 2, the good old days, also think they opened there maiin stand on the same night.
November 29, 200916 yr i was at the huddersfield game as a young un would've been one of my first aways and also saw summerbee in his car

Jaaskelainen Steinsson Cahill Shittu Samuel JO'B Riga McCann Muamba Gardner Helguson Subs included AOB, Nolan & K Davies. Should have been strong enough that night. Player's attitudes were wrong, not the strength of the team.

November 29, 200916 yr imo -rather than team selection ,Cahill getting sent off was the main reason for the Northampton defeat. That and forgetting to mark the big black lad
November 29, 200916 yr Went again v Emley. can't remember year but i'm guessing early 90s. Now that was a bit of a rough outing iirc.
November 29, 200916 yr imo -rather than team selection ,Cahill getting sent off was the main reason for the Northampton defeat. I was saying that the team selection wasn't to blame, too!
November 30, 200916 yr I wasn't saying team selection was wholly to blame for the defeat against northampton. More that a strong team is needed to prevent another 'blip' in the history of Bolton wanderers. How many times do we need to hear that Blythe Spartans got to whatever round about 30 years ago, or any other giant-killing game? mnnows against Premier league giants! I don't want my team mentioning every time there's a let's-all-chat-about-FA Cup-giant-killers type conversation The papers would love it! As would Neilpie no doubt. It's going to be an expensive year for him becoming a supporter of the opposition every time we play!
