not heard anything better, yet

I suspect Arsene Wenger is thinking the same!

To piss Burnley off and so they couldn't have him?

After spending so long talking about him and trying to get him for both Burnley and Bolton... it is a bit of a mystery! I've been a tad disappointed at Owen's team selections cos I expected him to see our weak spots way before now... but it seems as though the previous manager is still picking the side!

Well I guess the point of a football forum is so we can all be managers so this in my opinion is how we could avoid relegation!

we go down sooner with that team.

Nowhere near enough fight, strength, presence or experience.

I do not understand why this lad isn't playing. Some folk might say he shouldn't be thrown into a relegation scrap, but to be honest the players that are being picked, experienced or not, are not up for the scrap either.

We have no leaders in the camp now. What we could have done with someone like Nolan right now. Gave his heart and soul for the club that lad.

Think Wilshere has to start against Wolves. We need someone in central midfield who can get hold of the ball and make things happen. Gardner isn't a central midfielder, and although he played well against spurs, he needs to play left midfield or left back. Ricketts isn't a centre back either. Team for wolves should be.

Unsure about the right midfield spot. Think Chung is tired and needs a rest so i'd be tempted to give weiss a chance against wolves. He's not looked that impressive recently but he needs a chance to start a game. Wilshere is a must in central midfield for me.

Wilshere must be given game time if we are to have any chance of staying up he is the creative player we need, after seeing Weiss perform I cannot for the life of me understand why he is given a chance in front of Wilshere.

absolutely spot on with that.

I don't think we are seeing the best from Weiss simply because he's needed to be in an extreme hurry to show what he can do given the time(s) he's being introduced. I'm sure he'd be more of a composed team player if he was told the shirt was his for a few games. The lad is class even at his age but any player in his position, with his talent would be playing as he is, knowings he's gotta produce with every touch in the 10-15 minutes he's getting.

I'm certain given 90 minutes he'll impress.

hmm, good point.

but i dont think starting him is a gamble were in a position to take.

Whilst I agree that these qualities would be slightly diminished with the team I selected, I'm not sure any one of them is gonna help us score goals or stop us conceding goals half as much as the 2 things we'll have far more of... confidence and football ability!

With all due respect to the likes of Elmander, Ricketts, Robinson, Taylor... it looks to me like most of them are far too delighted to be playing football at the highest level to let the fact we keep losing every week to spoil the ride.

Let's pick some winners, achievers! :)

lee looks shagged

taylor is most likely to score

seems pretty fcuking obvious to me you try him n his proper position

Yep I would start him on right. Think he could do a job on left but put your best players in their best positions I say! Chung can play on left :)

Taylor is most likely to shoot! ... that's not quite the same thing! Without taking pens and close free-kicks his scoring record is not impressive to me!

If things carry on the way they are then we're gonna have to gamble sooner or later, best to take the chance and start him at home in a game we're favourites to win than with 5 games left to go and we have to win 3. :pardon:

Every time Weiss has come on , he has been useless & that's been playing against tiring defenders when he should have been at his most effective.

He's done nothing to deserve a starting place & we're not in a position to let him learn the game & make his mistakes while playing for us.

they stuck 2 men on Weiss on a few ocassions today and to be fair to him, its difficult for him getting chucked on in these circumstances. im as brassed off as the next bloke at the moment and im really struggling to try and be constructive in any way without being all snappy about things but i dont see the problem being Weiss. In the right situation he could be good for us but chucking him on for 10 minutes to chase matches isn`t the best idea. Everyones staring at him saying `go on then...do something...` like hes ronaldo rather than a promising kid

and to take casinos original point, if i were wenger i`d be on the phone first thing monday morning to get wilshere back

I respect this opinion and I'm sure you're not alone with this one... with respect though we are exactly in a position to let him learn the game. We are second bottom and have not scored a league goal for many games! Keep picking the tried and tested experienced losers then? nah :nea:

Two seasons ago, when we were in similar trouble, it was hardworking, experienced battlers like Nolan & McCann who saved us - not lightweight, inexperienced & ,so far, totally ineffective wingers.

and Matty Taylor.

there was some stat that he'd scored or got the assist in pretty much every one of our goals in that run in

I am suggesting we start with Weiss and let him have the 70-80-90 minutes that truly ineffective players keep getting. The reason for this is because I have experience... experience of watching our team with these players in there and losing. Weiss has been the most effective player in the best youth team in the country for the past couple of years. I'm assuming you've built your opinion on extremely lightweight evidence from less than 30 minutes action.

Our hardworking, experienced battlers have got 23 points with 10 games left!

Unfortunately he still plays like a youth team player.

City already have Wright-Phillips & Bellamy who can play in his position, & have recently bought Johnson who also plays there - it doesn't look as if they share your high opinion of him.

I haven't seen any sign that Weiss can cross a ball, even with his right foot. That includes the warm up before the game.

Let's see what Wilshere can do against Wolves. I haven't seen anything yet to change my feeling that he is skilful, quick, but lightweight when we need someone with a bit of grit alongside Muamba in midfield, especially when we play with two wingers.

Just wish that we had been able to get someone to replace Speed and Nolan in the last 18 months. KD can head in down all day, but when there is no-one within 40 yards behind him, it's no blooby use. Elmander always goes for the flick on which is another coaching failing in my book.
