its nowt to do with his not scoring goals, its his shit passing, his fanny footed tackling and his nicey attitude that gets me.   if they awarded goals for being nice he`d be a world beater but they

  • Thought Elmo worked his tits off yesterday. His confidence his defo' growing and he will start to get the goals. His link up play was excellent. Maybe be beginning to like the lad (not in that way).

What an utterly pompous question, so I'll reply with a pompous answer...   Yet another one who plays Football Manager and assumes that's like real life   Do you honestly think that professional ma

Jock strap, that's the support he needs.

Oh and a few goals

I'm sure his mum also thinks he's not a goal shy, non scoring, non tackling, nearly man too!

Elmander will come good, he just needs confidence and the support to get behind him. He is the most creative forward player we have!

When?

Someone tried telling me on Saturday that he wasnt bought to score goals. I always thought that was one of the remits of a centre forward, particularly when you sell Anelka and dont bring in anyone else. To be fair the same person also said Robinson should be captain so i had to walk away

OK, I have to ask. How many people on this site actually know the difference between a centre forward and a striker?

Seriously...

A Striker is there to score goals

A Centre Forward is there to create attacking opportunities

Is he playing tonight against Wales?

I'd imagine so especially as Zlatan has retired from international football

hes got the skill and he's showing that just whenever he comes in and people yell "your shit" from the stands etc, its going to chnage the way he plays. (prime example Zat Knight),

Once he bags one his confidence will soar and we will be laughing, hes everwhere on the pitch, tracking back, chasing down, he wants the ball and hes what we need. Dean Holdsworth has a similar problem when he came living upto the hype around his high trasnfer fee but he did a lot more for the club than scoring.

Coyle can see the skills there hence why hes being played,

Think we would all like to see how he plays with Klasnic, that would be a 'centre forward' and a 'striker' playing together

Elmanders all round game has come on leaps and bounds since OC's appointment, with this i still believe i will see the player again that looked a different class against boro and sunderland away last year! Fair enough this is 2 examples only, but i saw enough to keep the faith!

Agree, i think it's time to give Klasnic and Elmander and maybe see how it goes with Davis rested.

whilst I tend to agree, that's a huge decision for coyle.

One that I doubt he'd want to take.

Absolutely he lost us the opportunity to play in an FA Cup final the twat.

hope thats tongue in cheek, oe else theres no hope....

Football doesn't have centre-forwards any more. Hasn't for years.

When there WERE centre-forwards, they almost always scored goals. Except for such as Revie, a deep-lying centre-forward in a specific formation where the goals came from other positions.

Here endeth the history lesson.

well, i think he's spot on

well, i think he's spot on

It's a shame really that people only remember Deano for the semi final miss when in reality he was the only one to score in the shoot out and his goals played a massive part in getting us promoted.. plus he made a fool of Sander Westerveld :D

Of course football has centre forwards. Up until recently Rooney was a centre forward, this season he's made the transition to striker (more due to the fact that Manure have no strikers) and he's flourished, but he doesn't do half the work for the team he used to do - you never see him back in the defensive midfield positions like he used to.

The problem with Bolton is this... Megson, in his infinite wisdom, wanted a squad full of players who would "pull a shift". Unfortunately, strikers (and by that, read GOALSCORERS) do not tend to do that. Centre forwards do put in a shift though, as that is their job. As a result we end up signing a very expensive centre forward who was expected by many (including the clown who signed him) to be a striker. Megson (to be fair to him) signed Klasnic as he finally noticed we didn't have a goalscorer. But he did bemoan playing him due to his lack of "team effort".

As someone has said, we should see how Klasnic and Elmander work as a team but that is going to take a VERY brave decision by OC to drop SKD. I can't see it happening while we're in a relegation battle. Unfortunately, that either means we continue trying to play two centre forwards (hence why the goals dried up while Klasnic was out injured) or try and keep Elmander's spirits up until we're mathematically safe OR until post-season. OC has got a very hard job on to keep everyone happy AND the goals coming, but that's why he's paid to do the job he does.

And leave Deano out of this... Deano is a legend and I've seen worse misses than his by far "superior" players.

i'd be surprised if coyle dropped Davies for elmo to play with klasnic klasnic, but i think the oppurtunity will come should davies get injured or suspended and i really think it could work.

i dont think we should use the term of elmander 'will' come good because thats really not a strong argument. i think he needs to drop a little deeper and to be a centre forward behind the top striker

Deano is a legend

i'm glad you left this bit to the end or else i'd not have read any more

Deanos miss did cost us the FA Cup final, no doubt!! Up until that point there was no question we were going to play in the last ever FA Cup final at the old Wembley. It was written in the stars, it was our destiny and he ruined it!

to be fair to deano , before that miss in the game he played brilliantly.

but i'll forever remember him for that miss

FFS drop Davies for Elmander to do try to do a similar job?

I give up, I really do.
