its nowt to do with his not scoring goals, its his shit passing, his fanny footed tackling and his nicey attitude that gets me.   if they awarded goals for being nice he`d be a world beater but they

  • Thought Elmo worked his tits off yesterday. His confidence his defo' growing and he will start to get the goals. His link up play was excellent. Maybe be beginning to like the lad (not in that way).

What an utterly pompous question, so I'll reply with a pompous answer...   Yet another one who plays Football Manager and assumes that's like real life   Do you honestly think that professional ma

I was only kidding about you not knowing anything - I can tell from what you say that you've got a very good idea of what you're talking about - hence the  but the rest of my post is meant. I too have played semi-pro (admittedly as a right back because I'd put weight on by then) and I know it's not as simple as Player A + Player B = win but there are certain combination of player abilities that NEVER work.

OK let's stop the cock jousting then as we seem to be in agreement

problem with his goal, and it was a cracker, was that it was all about technique

he's not lacking in that department

elmanders weakness is a lack of killer instinct, anticipation and probably a few other things besides

Plus the fact you rarely get that amount of time and space in The Premiership to demonstrate such "technique"!

He showed he has great technique, when he scored that stunner against VIlla away last season, But will he start v West Ham?

Right, so the positions of STRIKER and CENTRE FORWARD have been discussed . . . at length.

Some confusion seems to have arisen from the aanswers given.

In the glory days of your Super John McGinlays and Andy Walkers, did we play with two centre forwards, two strikers or was one one and the other the other? :pardon:

the games changed :P

Having played semi-professionally and having friends in the professional game in both a playing and coaching capacity we'll have to beg to differ on my knowledge of the game

Great cock joust

I too have played semi-pro

Honours even

This is what i think:

ST = DROGBA, TORRES

CF/SS[second Striker] = ROONEY, DEL PIERO - ALSO maybe can be classed as RF/LF

RS/LS = HENRY, ANELKA

RW/LW = RONALDO, MESSI

the lads still only 23

nobody is gonna convince me that he hasn't got something

it'll be a miracle if coyle gets it out of him, but i reckon we're gonna live to regret it sometime in the future

Vaz Te's problem is running. I dont mean in terms of lacking pace but his actual ability to run. I cant describe it very well but somehow he just does it wrong. He cant have played more than a handful of games for the Wanderers in the last 5/6 years. I know he has been plagued by injuries but still nice work if you can get it!

Vaz Te runs a bit like Robben, unique style.

Not talking about skill or ought, just is movement, arms movement, how he runs.

Vaz Te can't stop falling over!!!!!

Campo and Davies seem to have the same problem :pardon:

just seen his goal tek a boo son

and just seen his post match interview, what a strange accent he has at one time he sounds swedish then he sounds like a toff

Deanos miss did cost us the FA Cup final, no doubt!! Up until that point there was no question we were going to play in the last ever FA Cup final at the old Wembley. It was written in the stars, it was our destiny and he ruined it!

I would not be too sure about that. Remember Bolton at that time were the worst team for letting in late goals, somat that BSA took a few years to rectify. That miss came around 12 mins into extra time. my feeling was is that we would have sat back and villa would have thrown the kitchen sink and have probably scored.

twas a very poor miss, he snatched at it like a schoolboy when he even had time for a first touch. for me not as bad as flapper felgate in 92 which denied us a QF place.

deffo two strikers

Thanks, Homer. That was what I meant earlier.

For those who haven't seen it yet...

Elmander Goal

Cheers gaz.

Good strike, hopefully a confidence booster.

He had time for a first touch but he didn't have time to chase after it and have a second and third.

hahahahaha

welcome back enzo

post of the month for march!

As much as i would like to see Elmander come good I think our 1st choice front 2 must be Klasnic and SKD, to back my point up I have looked at the stats on Fantasy Premiere -

SKD - played 2340mins - Scored 3 goals - 7 assists - min/goal 780 - min/assist 334

SKD goals / assists have been crucial in picking up points.

Goals - spurs h 1pt + Hull h 1pt

Assists - pompey a 3pts + brum a 3pts + Everton h 3pts + Burnley h 3pts

Klasnic - played 842 mins - scored 6 goals - 1 assist - min/goal 140 - min/assist 842

Klasnic goals / assists have also been crucial in collecting points

Goals - Everton h 3pts + Fulham a 1pt + City h 1pt + WHU h 3pts + Hull h 1pt

Assists - WHU h 3 pts

Elmo - played 874 mins - scored 2 goal - 1 assist - min/goal 437 - min/assist 874

Elmanders goals came when we got drubbed 5-1 at Villa and lost at wolves 2-1. His assist came when we lost at home to Liverpool.

Whilst i understand it is difficult to compare as he has 1/3 as much time on the field as SKD the fact that 23% of our total goals have come from a SKD assist means that he is first name on the team sheet IMO.

I do hope Elmo comes good because he can start talking to clubs about a free transfer in 10 months with his 3 year deal due to run its course in the summer of 2011.

I love Friday afternoons at work.

check your stats to see how much breaks down at davies

it might be that nothing does, but come back to me with the info all the same

cheers

in fact, in the wins against pompey and everton, his goals/assists would be worthless without us scoring the other 2 goals

so, is it elmanders fault his team mates (yeah, Davies) didn't score 2 more v liverpool and 5 more v villa

ffs, i hate fridays

Couldnt tell you, like i said it would be a risky move dropping SKD for Elmo now looking at goals / assists.

Elmander has probably had as many opportunities to score as SKD in 1/3rd of the time which is good as it shows he is getting in the right positions but if they aint going in the onion bag! Elmo needs games but we need points its a chicken and egg situation.

Tried to find pass completion etc but had no joy, the only other relevent stats i could find where -

% shots on target-

Klasnic 67%

Elmo 52%

SKD 45%

Mins on pitch / shot -

Klasnic 25mins

Elmo 40 mins

SKD 54 mins

Shots /goal -

Klasnic 1/5.5

Elmo 1/11

SKD 1/14

Throws it back open a bit, looking at these though i would suggest Klasnic is the out and out striker and SKD is the best number 2 for assists etc.
