Rough Schools.

Attending a boot camp called Leigh St Marys was a joy for me 65-69, just a mixture of violent teachers, drug taking thugs from Westleigh, who knicked your fags off you ,and Oliver Twist meals at dinnertime.

Westhoughton is full of scroats of the pungle i fxckin hate it

If you had to list the 5 shittest estates in Bolton would the Pungle make it? Tough competition with those scutter heavyweights Johnson Fold & Top o'th' Brow sure to feature.

Doesn't ST live on that estate?

Pungle aint as rough as what Kearlsey Street was before the great fire

Little Hulton Community School was brilliant.

Until a few lads gave a supply teacher, a shake a bed, out of the food tech window.

Any fisticuffs in the playground would be stopped and both lads would have to slug it out in the boxing ring in the Gym. Watched one fight and one lad was a Pennington boy & the other a Plank Laner, Kinnell, i had a five cig bet on the plonk loner beating some toff who had bogs inside his house. I lost my bet.

HAYWARD

Hayward & Deane were the generally accepted scutters when I were a lad. Only ever visited for footballing purposes.

hayward and deane for me as well.notoriously known for being full of not rights.

they were always shit at footie, but top at cricket. funny that.

Hey cheeky twats Deane Grammar was ok, it was the high school that was full of window lickers !

Played Rugby against Central High in Burnage about 30 years ago, the match lasted half an hour when the teacher decided enough was enough, we did not bother getting changed straight into the mini bus as the Burnage lads chased the van throwing house bricks.

Went to Hayward, lad died in a fight my first day at school & it did'nt get any better. Anybody who got expelled usually always came back because other schools could'nt handle them. When it turned comprehensive all the good teachers left, those that remained did'nt give a rats arse about you unless you were ex grammar. When I left I stopped the traffic on Lever Edge Lane & kissed the road because I had survived, no qualifications no education but I had survived.

You ought to write an autobiography with prose like that. :D

That is his autobiography!

Before it became Withins Comprehensive or whatever the fook it's called now, Breightmet Skoo was there.

Bolton County Grammar School moved up there, right next door, in 1966 with caps, uniforms, ties etc. In the period of 'adjustment', running the gauntlet up Newby Road was fun and games, I can tell thee. Being brighter, BCGS boys were either utter geeks or cool fcukers from round town of the Moddish variety. B'met were all sideburns, leather jackets with studs or absolute scutters who had nits and no pot to p?ss in.

Wasn't long before the inevitable showdown occurred after all sorts of fun and games rock chucking at lunch times; ties cut on Newby with flick knives etc. Two cocks o't schools faced off in the amphitheatre in the scarp at the back (looking out over St. Annes). BCGS brained Breightmet and the boot was on the other foot after that. They stopped challenging us on Newby Road and even the 'snobs' jibes dried up. In 5th and 6th years, a few of em started turning up at the Palais soul nights, got scooters and became part of the in crowd.

Didn't stop run ins with the bead rattlers from down the hill from time to time though. What's it been like since it became Withins High then?

rebuilt!

i think its st catherines academy now but i try to look the other way

That is his autobiography!

i went 82-87 just went to a comp

I went to Rivington & Blackrod & to be honest it was quite boring now i've read some of these stories. I don't remember much happening, but I was a bit of a swot to be fair.

Oh, I recall everyone getting called into to the big hall once as the Dirtroders had all kaled to the back of the bus as it went up Tanners and the front wheels came of the ground. I don't even remember there being a "cock of the skoo". Dull.

Traffic Ed watching whilst sat in Maths was excellent though. A load of not rights going putt putt putt on a moped sort of thing on the tennis courts. Now that was a CSE everyone wanted! :D
