Owen Coyle has confirmed that Stuart Holden will make his long-awaited first team return when the Whites face Aston Villa in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Is it just me or could he not hold him back for the next league match?

I know we all moan about clubs not taking cup matches seriously, but still.

He needs match fitness and the Villa match can help provide this in a way which endless reserves matches cannot really do. But he will not take up where he left off, I suspect, and will take time to get there.

This is a great game to have - we get to try new things out, give a run out to contenders for the Arse match. If we lose...well, it's a cup we've never won anyway.

this is perfect for him to get him ready for the league games, which are more important, and to try him alongside players he won't have played with before, like NRC, or Pratley

A good game fpr Holden to play in and also a chance to switch from 442 to 451 lets start packing midfield, with two wide men to support lone striker. personally think this is way forward especially away or against top 4 teams. 442 is supposed to be more attacking but not for us it's not, only remember Norwich keeper making 2 saves and they are crap and relegation certainties that says it all

Not gonna happen, might as well let this idea go...

The game will be won by the team who takes it most seriously. Both managers will outdo each other for who puts the most weak players on the pitch.
