Not finished reading that report yet, but a few comments.

The report consistently refers to Mr Evra, Mr Suarez, Mr Kuyt, etc, only giving a forename on the first occurrence, but consistently refers to Steven Gerrard (never Mr).

The referee asked the fourth official to 'take notes' of the meeting with Ferguson + Evra. He actually just noted bullet points (Dowd doesn't have shorthand skills). And after submitting his report the referee threw those 'notes' away.

What is especially interesting is Dalglish's first response to the allegation when in the referee's room:

"

Mr Dalglish said, "hasn't he done this before?". This was the evidence to us of Mr Dowd, which was also accepted by Mr Suarez. Mr Dowd remembered this as it caused him to consciously stop and think whether he was aware of any previous allegation involving Mr Evra.

I've read (and posted) some shite in here but fuck me...

Dud you just compare park football to the premier league?

The only link is the spherical object and the green stuff

Sure there's a world of difference - and a large degree of commonality too.

It's about time we stopped thinking that pro footballers need to be role models - it's a barmy idea when you think of it. Let's kick political correctness out of football and enjoy the beautiful game for what it is. There's far too many advocacy groups out there trying to colonise our sport to further their own narrow aims. It's about time we put a stop to it.

You can't have it both ways.

We've had, as have other clubs, red cards rescinded due to the million and three different viewing angles. That's all good news compared with the days of only seeing cameras at the ground if you were on MotD.

The players know full well that they're there too so ought to be disciplined enough to behave accordingly. If they don't; a cheeky elbow on the ref's blind side, etc. it will be seen and pontificated over by a myriad of pundits and the FA will do something about it retrospectively.

That Suarez decided he was above the law of the land whilst stood on the pitch is not a defence. If he goes in too aggressively he could face the law of the land for that too. Ask players who have been done for GBH.

THEY ARE NOT BEYOND THE LAW JUST BECAUSE THEY STAND ON A FOOTBALL PITCH FOR MILLIONS OF POUNDS PER YEAR.

MD - don't you think there's a world of difference between cameras to help the ref make better decisions - and using video technology to police hate speech?

The laws on hate speech are a monumental affront to liberty and should be repealed - and attempts to blur the distinction between the public and private sphere is bad for all of us - look at the latest nonsense to come from Scotland to see the road we're heading down - if you really think hate speech laws, official campaigns like kick racism out of football, the CRE and the police are the way to fight racism we really don't have much common ground between us.

What ever happened to the maxim "what's said on the pitch stays on the pitch"?

Surely what's said on the pitch is a private not a public matter? Players say things on the pitch they that they don?t really mean. I play football and mouth the most outrageous things at fellow players and opponents and I don't mean a bit of it....anyone who has played the game knows this to be true.

Whatever insults are traded during a game, players are expected to shake hands and leave animosities when the match is over. Yes, you need a thick skin, but the rules of engagement are fairly clear. If this nonsense carries on we'll have more codes of conduct, player surveillance and lilly livered players running to the press at the first opportunity....football is the loser in that game.

If Evra was offended by the comment her should have had the balls to confront Suarez directly and keep the authorities out of it. That's the way to tackle racism if you ask me.

And as for that twat QPR fan who snitched John Terry - disgraceful!

Thats the biggest crock of shite ive read in a long time.... If u think the only way to tackle racism is by confronting each other then this country would be a madhouse. Every day would be like an EDL demo . Judging by your logic if a kid in school calls another kid a "paki" then they should just step outside the classroom and fight it out?? You should confront racists to an extent but it is also the dutie of the authorities to get involved and punish those who cross the line. Sportsman are not exempt from this just because they play in a heated environment. Its a crap excuse for the persistent wave of abuse he gave Evra.

Im also a bit confused as to why your so pissed off with the QPR fan? You just said you wanted people to confront racism which is exactly what the fan does, fair play to him

Pretty much all of it.

what font did they use?

:D

rumour has it that uniteds game against blackburn is to be replayed

apparently patrice evra has put in a complaint about their name

Yes, lets bring back those 'monkey' chants while we're at it.

Yes, lets bring back those 'monkey' chants while we're at it.

Thankfully monkey chanting is a thing of the past - but it's demise was not caused by the FA's official anti racist campaign. Hostility to "authority" led anti racism isn't being soft on racism or any other form of discrimination - quite the opposite.

Have a +1. 'ooh ooh Ooohghani!' Oh those great days, made me feel so proud....

Dingdangdo, being against racism is not 'politically correct' ( a phrase invented by the American Right to discredit anybody with a shred of decency in them) it is just right and proper.

What the fuck are you on about? I genuinely don't know what you are trying to say?

Simple

Racism is a political issue - not a football issue.

The personal is not political

The personal private sphere is under attack from an army of middle class football fan hating illiberal miserabilists

The FA bosses wouldn't know the first thing about fighting discrimination - they should stick to the administration of the game and the promotion of football for football's sake

So it's good that monkey chants are a thing of the past - but its ok for players (because obviously they are outside the scope of human decency) to racially abuse others ?

Righto.

Ziggy - I didn't say that. Of course it's not ok for anyone to racially abuse another. My beef is wih the new cult of snitching to the authorities. Evra should have given Suarez some back rather than acting like a big girls blouse and reporting him.

Did Eddo Brandes report Glenn McGrath to the ICC for asking him why he was so fat - no, he said "because every time I fuck your wife she gives me a biscuit"

Geddit!

So nobody says anything and Suarez gets away with it. That'll teach him.

So football does not exist in a political sphere....fuck me, ever heard of FIFA?

The personal is not political

Huh? If was Asian and you told me to f**k off back to Bangladesh I'd call that personal AND political

The personal private sphere is under attack from an army of middle class football fan hating illiberal miserabilists

Still don't know what the fuck you are on about, but are you seriously suggesting that the fact that we are no longer able to call black peple 'ni**ers' illiberal? What kind of personal freedom are you advocating?

The FA bosses wouldn't know the first thing about fighting discrimination - they should stick to the administration of the game and the promotion of football for football's sake

Kick it Out etc has been massively successful, fact.

Love your oh-so-clever individualistic philosophy.. anyway back to work, get those Ayn Rand books out, you'll have course work to do...

Fat people have never been victims of genocide, or slavery, or institutionalised discrimination

Geddit?

Cock!!

But McGrath himself reported Sarwan to the umpires, when Sarwan gave him abuse back in a retort.

So you make a pretty pointless argument there.

Thanks for misleading.

No - Evra says something and sorts Suarez out - possibly with the help of others - without the intervention of the prying eyes of the establishment

In what way do you think Evra should "sort Suarez out"?

No - Evra says something and sorts Suarez out - possibly with the help of others

In other words, exactly what he did.
