it was more a measure of the extremes of the comparison rather than the comparison itself

 

suarez defence is ridiculous and he should be thoroughly embarresed as should the entire liverpool team

but what is equally ridiculous is the extreme reaction of plenty of people on here and elsewhere

 

it reminds me of the `you can`t say bomb on a plane` sketch off Meet the Parents

Im not a teacher, just work part-time in a school. Probably go into teaching in a couple of years. Not sure what your getting at anymore, ive made a few points as to why i think Suarez should be punished along with the majority who posted on this thread and apparently im a "commie, left leaning git and not bright" for having a bit of common sense. Try telling me why you think he should be let off instead of insulting us and i might give you the time of day.

 

It wasn't "some accusation" against Suarez, it doesnt sound like you've made much effort to look at any of the evidence given against him. Which includes on the pitch witnesses and the lad himself admitting it but then claiming it to be a "cultural mistake". Which is some shitty excuse in my opinion. You just need to look at his history to see he can be a sneeky, cheeting little prik at times. As for him being banned from football i admitted that was an exaggeration, i think the current punishment is a good one. I dont think Suarez is a racist but he clearly said something stupid to wind Evra up in the heat of the moment. Its dirty tactics and its not PC to want it stamped out the game.

As for your teacher comment, pretty pathetic to be fair. I've seen somoe inspirational and hard working ones in my time and ive seen some dire ones. You would be fuked right now if it wasn't for some of the teachers you've had in the past. Labelling them all as idiots doesn't make you sound very clever mate

Haven't seen much comment about the fact that Suarez is himself a quadroon, with one black grandparent - which makes his initial comments to Evra very silly. But Evra, no longer the player he once was, and seems to goad players verbally - inciting this sort of reaction. For example the "Why do you always kick me?" comment to SKD (to which the reply was "because I don't like you", followed by another kick).

This is how this sort of stuff is taken too far, yesterday in a pub in Athy we were having a good craic with beer and [free] food put on by the landlady, a young black lad has attached himself to some of Athy's finest and follows them about, scrounging ale as he is basically somebody who has just 'arrived', yesterday we were all having the buffet when he grabbed a handfull of sandwiches and dipped them in the big pot of coleslaw, the landlady shouted, "Oi, Ivan, you dirty monkey, put it on a plate" ::

I think we're far too dramatic about it as a society - it's just one form of bullying, and it doesn't seem fair that people only bother about bullying when the subject of it is skin colour. Nobody will get banned for 8 matches for calling Peter Crouch a lanky streak of piss.

Having said that it isn't an issue we can afford to ignore, and Liverpool FC has made a right show of itself wearing these T-shirts in support of the sh1thead.

scouser on radio wants liverpool to take FA to court for libel (slander ?) as they are making false accusations against the player, the club and the fans by making this desicion.

Suarezs defence was that i did not know it was offensive, the desicion seems basically to be it was offensive and you should understand the culture of the country in which you live and pay ?Ms per year.

 

i would have thought given he has admitted doing it the idea that it could be defamation of character would be hard to prove.
