Tyrone Mears

Back training with the squad today. Hopefully fully fit by the end of the month according to Coyle.

  • Steinsson has been ok the last 3/4 games nothing special, he is still a long way off the form that he was in when we bought him. Overall this season he has been fucking wank really. He gets beat for p

Plus my son's Dingle mates say pretty much the same.

You allow your boy to socialise with Dingles?

I hope that you don't allow them into Traf Towers

At least Cohen would also kick folk when he was running around.

And score goals

No, but I do allow them to pick up litter and fallen fruit from the grounds and occasionally shelter in one of the outbuildings when the weather turns particularly bad.

I'm all heart you see.

That's Steinsson's days numbered yet again.

That's Steinsson's days numbered yet again.

Can't believe that Coyle would change a defence which looked something like against Liverpool.

That said, having watched Boyata preferred over Steinsson at RB, anything is possible.

Even putting a crap defender like Mears in the team.

i think steinson has been ok since coming back....

oh joy

hopefully steinsson will have sommit to say about that

That's got to be one of the most refreshing player quotes I've read in recent times. A player who genuinely wants to do well and do well for the club.

Good on you, Mr. Steinsson.

Excuse me, but when has there ever been any doubt in Steinsson's commitment to this club

He'd be first on the team sheet, if OC had a brain

I like steinsson but fear his days are numbered! With mears, Riley, ricketts.

T'other week our right back options in the same game were: Wheater (sent off) NRC, then finally a proper right back, Steinsson.

For him to get back in as first choice and score shows his commitment, as if it were in doubt. He should keep his place even when the untried at this level Mears is fit.

Given Gumbo's & Traf's assessment in the posts above, he may give us a different option on the right wing if Coyle wants to go with someone with pace who can deliver a good ball. Presumely he can tackle now and again, albeit may not be the best defensively

Im committed to the club too, can i get a place? Paul Robinson is committed but i wouldnt want him near the team ever again. Committment alone isnt enough to be first on the team sheet.

Its like having a brand new squad member

Steinsson has played well the last few games but remember the way he just let Sturridge go for Chelsea's first and then looked to blame someone else?

As a right back Steinsson makes a good central defender, because thats where he spends most of his time.

so he should be let go because of that? i think he is one of the better fullbacks at the club and we need players like him as most of the team has show little heart this year

nor should any player be in the team without it.

boyata certainly falls into this catagory for me.

klasnic and petrov have certainly edged that way in the past

In true WWays style can you tell me where I said that?

I'm just pointing out that Steinsson is hardly without error this season and Mears may be as good or even better given a run of games. If Steinnson keeps playing as he has done in the last few games then he keeps his place and earns a new deal for me. If however he reverts to the sort of mistakes he made v Chelsea then maybe Mears deserves a chance.

PS If Mears can cross and take people on then maybe play him instead of Eagles?!

it is indeed, and I'm sure OC will mention it.

Do you really think a bad game against Chelsea signifies a lack of heart, ability, or anything else? I'm sure you'll come back with the fact you aren't just talking about a chelsea game but, up to now, it's the only bad game you're quoting.

no, all the doubts were raised about his mental state and focus following his divorce and subsequent going off the rails

which presumably affected his performance in training and what not

which presumably coyle noticed

presumably he's sorted his head out and got back on track

anyone with a brain knows when your personal life is going wayward, it can affect your professional focus
