Bolton 1 Wigan 2

Truly massive game for both teams next week, I aint looking forward to it and would settle for any rag arse win, if we win it I really fancy us to get out of the mess were in, if we don't I will be very very worried.

No, Wigan are probably the most negative home team in the Premier League. They play two or three tacklers in a midfield 5 and like Bolton have 8 home points.Wigan, or Bolton don't have good enough attacking players to be so cautious at home.

That ginger scrote in the blue jacket in the photo sums up just what I hate about the majority of the yoof of today.

Just looking at him in that photo makes me wish he got a good pasting off a Bolton fan after the game.

No offense to the lad but he's a scrawny child, nothing more.

Indeed, giving it the big "I am".

Wouldn't look out of place in the ESL either.

to be fair, he's doing what we all did at that age right?

he's holding his arms in the air and chanting

towards the away end

i still do it now sometimes, at away games, probably will tomorrow if we're winning with a few minutes left

not the big i am that is

just singing and stuff

You;re probably right. I think I'm still hurting from Saturday :(

Still, Wigan banning 17 fans for life? Jeez. That's a big chunk of their support, especially when you consider Saturday was their biggest away following of the season.

To be fair at that age I was standing on the Paddock with a pocket full of 2Ps at the ready.

You mean you didn't throw them to/at Darren??

I can only remember that at away games, maybe he wasn't in the Paddock?

According to gmp, wiggins numbers were swelled by ner-do-wells from the local lower league sides who's games had been abandoned due to the cold.

who'd picked the local derby as the best chance of a bit of a rumble.

The scary thing is that the layman who supports another club thinks OCis ace, meaning I guarantee if this continues, as we turn en masse against St Owen we will be criticised by all and sundry ......................... put down the average Wanderer who is fed up with this wankfest

And that p*sses me off too.

If we're paying good money to watch Coyle's 442 lump the ball endlessly upfield to 2 strikers who can't get the ball, what the fook is everone else seeing ?

Football my a*se !

The good old days. No CCTV and besides that, you were never quite sure who the recipients of your loose change was going to be. Away fans on the Embankment or Darren.

Hey, Darren, go and thump that lad and I'll give you 10p!

Daz defo received a fair few pennies from the Paddock in his time. I seem to recall that he was pitch side of the terrace for some reason on a regular basis (prior to Lofty the Lion - actually, has anyone ever seen the two together?).

Always gave us a thumbs up to show his appreciation.

Darren was chewing my ear off for the whole of half time last week, not sure why he latched onto me.

If he comes up to me next game, i'm going to ask him if he remembers coins being thrown at him in th'eighties.

People that threw coins at Darren were a bunch of bullying cunts. Some how some people thought it was funny and they were cunts too............

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, 25-35 years ago it wasn't seen as bullying it was seen as funny.

Don't tell me you never did anything in your younger days that you wouldn't still be happy to do now because I won't believe you.

What do we make of this then?

overreactions all round

no doubt the stewards were being twats, we know ours can be and its not too different at other grounds have been too - like at Derby, but that was nobheads day out as well

but no doubt some fans were being nobs too, and not just the ones with flares - again like ours do, like at wigan when one ripped that ad board and launched it into the stand

but their fans were standing in the aisles as they had nowhere to sit? and saying it was the stewards fault that the flares were allowed in the ground? if you say so cock

and north west lancashire??

It wasnt the standing the steward will have been wading in for it will have been the standing as one mob including in the aisles.

(Manyoo had their allocation of tickets reduced for that reason.)

Most away fans stand and the stewards allow it

From our vantage point in the west stand boxes you could see the stewards head up a few times and clear the aisles only for them to fill back up again minutes later.

Rather surprisingly they didnt just wade in and start throwing people out they had warnings

If standing areas ever came back this sort of thin could be avoided quite easily.

seem to remember you were always skint

Here's my view from my vantage point in the WSL:

That the stewards were rough-housing with only scrawny kids says a lot more about the maturity of the teenagers than it does about the stewards being bully boys.

Flares can burn. Once the first one was lit, the police will have directed every CCTV camera in the area to the same place. That the idiots then set at least another three off gave the watching coppers as much evidence as they would need to secure a conviction. I'm willing to bet that many of the 17 banned were directly linked to the flares or were aiding and abetting others directly linked to the flares.

As has been said, the fact that the flares were in the ground is not the fault of the stewards. If they frisked every person on their way into the ground, the writer of this Norther Soul would be complaining about the draconian measures.

Nobody gets thrown out for standing, swearing, creating an atmosphere. They do, however, get thrown out if asked to do something by a steward and telling him to fuck off.

In view of the cretins they had to deal with, I'd say the stewards got most of the day spot on, particularly in dealing with people throwing flares.

aye, one lad even jumped up and down with flare in hand on a seat after the 2nd goal, and tried to resist when they collared him

agree too had they frisked everyone they'd be moaning about that

the stewards targeted that part of the stand even before the 1st flare went off as thats where their nobs had gathered, prob to get as close to the esl as possible

All stewards are still cunts, though.
