Fairly certain no one is arsed, but we're still buzzing so I'm telling you all anyway.  We got incredibly lucky, thankfully! Weather was spot on and it properly set the tone for a perfect day, co

Today wasn't bad till the rain came. Decent tomorrow too.

Get your thermals on later in the week.

Time for more log splitting.

Aye it was fuckin harsh that. Bang on 4pm. We were already 2/3 a big street of houses. Had option but to carry on. Rather unpleasant to work in.

Everyone inching toward coffin dodger territory (me included) should be seriously considering a couple of months per year, between December and March, in warmer climes if at all possible, it's fucking bollocks and imprisoning our weather...

Yet me and MrsD went to fucking Iceland! It was bastard freezing but you dress for it. Thermals, lots of layers and a fucking big coat.

Trouble is Spain and the Med seems to be worse than here atm. More matches off in Spain last weekend than the UK.

Not been to the Canaries in Feb/Mar since 2010. Last three times we went at this time of year it fucking pissed in down all week so gave it up as a bad job.

Goa. Loads of older folk go for 6 months at a time with little more than a couple of grand to spend.

On Costa Blanca you get 2-3 bad days then a week with sun 15-22c it's 22c in Alicante today folk will be sunbathing on the beach it's mental. I could live with that.

Aye, friends of ours just spent 5 weeks there. Not been but may start when my main pension comes through.

I can guarantee if I were to step off a plane there today, they would be running for shelter within an hour :(

A mates parents go to Barbados for 6 weeks every January

Sounds expensive but much less so than you would think

Return flights circa £400 each then a cheap self catering apartment near a beach (forget how much he said per week but wasn't expensive)

I like the sound of that for my retirement

Family friend goes every year. She loves it.

It's been raining for 12 hours solid here in the shires, the river is starting to look a little bit high already

I've been to Goa a few times, and each time we tend to meet up with the same people who are "long termers"

One bloke in particular, who is about 60, works in the UK between April and October, then just buggers off to Candolim from November until March - reckons that he only needs to save up about £5K to survive, and that includes the flat that he rents. When I get to that age, I'll be very tempted to do something pretty similar

Risk of significant amounts of snow over the Pennines later in the week.

All our rossendale dwellers better get some extra milk and bread in.

I'd also be tempted, can't see it being the same in 37 fucking years though!

Been like a fucking furnace here as Wackerchackers will confirm. He experienced a 47C when he was here.

Usually boiling at this time of year but, oddly, they are telling us to prepare for 40mm of rain on Friday. Beltin'. I'll be out in the gutter in me Alans and galoshes.

A bit of cowd is alreet though, I like a bit of a central European jaunt in the winter; Prague, Budapest, Berlin etc. makes you realise it's not too bad in our fair isle.

Try them again, been twice this winter, here now as it happens, not cracking el flags but pleasant enough, mid-20s during the day, no lower than 16 at night. Swimming in the sea everyday too, bit nippy at first but...

I could live here a portion of the year (in a city though).

We had a former pro football player on my watch and a trip was organised to Prague. This was one February. The lad asked what the weather was going to be like so tthey told him it'd be comfortably warm; shorts and t-shirt weather. Well, it was positively Baltic and he'd only brought shorts and t-shirts.

It won't be, talking of which, he's just come back from Candolim and reckon it's gone downhill massively......not due to the Russians as you might expect (apparently they've taken over Calengute) but the Brits, every bar is doing Karaoke each night now, and it's supposed to be a "Blackpool"  -  I think when we go back, we'll move a little further North or South.

It's a shame, as Candolim was great a few years ago, we noticed it starting to change when we were last there 3 years ago

I hope you all rallied round after the joke though, donated the lad some appropriate attire? :)

Where the fook did he take Prague as being? No atlas in his house then?

absolutely glorious here on the mersey riviera today
