Amazing the number of folk who will complain, but won't even clear the snow from their residential street that isn't going to be gritted because it's too small. Last time we had reasonably heavy snow, me and a neighbour cleared a large chunk of our street. No other bugger could be bothered. I was out with my shovel with my opposite neighbour this morning... did next door too, they have just moved in and have enough on their plate. A bit of cardio stuff does you good
January 6, 20251 yr Started snowing in Westhoughton at 6 this morning, I have to be in Bury for 9. Panicked, jumped in the car and drove through a mini blizzard on the M61 before a relatively easy journey. Sat in the office now at 7am and the feckin boilers packed up!

January 6, 20251 yr Horrendous up Belmont early this morning. Cars stuck, and strewn all over the place. Some 4 wheel drive job being driven by a clever dick, losing control, sliding across the road and into a ditch. All while in a mini blizzard. Family managed to get a couple of others out, and themselves. Over around 2.5 hours for a 40 minute journey.

The orange weather warning due to expire at 6.00am this morning was extended until midday. From Lancashire to Cumbria and across the pennines. Height no doubt a factor too.
January 6, 20251 yr Bloody rough over here today.. Clattered down with rain all night, kept me awake... at least my "non-expert" untrained chimney flashing repair worked (TMGJ and Gonzo note) after two professional roofing companies had had a go. I have a small 3 foot wide shallow river at the bottom of my garden... looked out first thing and it was like looking out from Pier Head towards the Wirral... no field left anymore.
January 6, 20251 yr Good for you. Still wouldn't do my own roof. Have re-mortared extension coping tiles, but that isn't high, and is easy.

Took the decision to avoid Belmont and go the long way round on the motorway. Reading this I'm glad I did.

I was somewhat surprised that they went that way. Particularly given that they went in my lad's car, and left the 4-wheel drive family car at home! Mental.

Ha ha keep warm mate and leave us skunk pussys too it Apart from working with water in sub zero temperatures being rather problematic, I actually love working outside in this. Fingers and toes are bit tricky but just got to keep moving and plenty of hot tea. ....that wind and rain bollocks is my enemy.

Yeah to be honest I like WfH two days a week maximum otherwise I'm bouncing off the walls or get really down. However today it's pretty nice as everyone is out as well so I reckon an deliveroo for lunch (won't be as good as that sandwich/bakery you have in Blackpool though)
