no balls Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Fair fucks to you too, Henry. I've not walked the dog more than 1/2 a mile today never mind run 26! Quote
birch-chorley Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Yes mate 3:40 Conditions where horrific, 8k paid to run but only 6k started and 5k finished. It was like the opening scene from saving private Ryan circa 20miles in, bodies everywhere. How did you get on pal? Quote
only1swanny Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Putting in for the great north run later this year and hopefully start some marathon thus year. I did 5km this morning and that was fair rough. Quote
Northender Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 London marathon entries open tomorrow for 2013, will be applying to do for third time. Congrats to anyone that ran today. Quote

I might put in for it. Last week I ran out of breath going up two flights of stairs so my training going ok. Reckon I can build up enough in a week Quote

Danny G Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I would struggle to drive 26 miles never mind run it Quote
Henry_VIII Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Cheers. Well done Birch (twat) that is a fantastic time I did around 4.12 unofficially which Iam fairly pleased about. Just thawing out now.... Time for a pint and big eats Quote

Sy86 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Other than snow, the weather couldn't have been any worse. Managed it in 3.29, an hour quicker than I though I would when I signed up. Quote
birch-chorley Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Fantastic result 3:29 today pal Are you going to do another, I bet you could nock 20 minutes off that in the right conditions? I fancy the Berlin Marathon next September. Quote
MalcolmW Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Nell McAndrew ran 2:54:45 last week in the London! Quote
newton_white Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Get involved in the Berlin Marathon. It's amazing. If you want a real tough one do the Snowdonia Marathon. That's a real experience and a half but great fun and views. Quote

I fancy the Berlin Marathon next September. Not sure if I'll do another at the moment, it was just a tick in the box of life goals. Didn't think I would be any good at it. Hats off to anyone that does and keeps doing it. Having to crawl upstairs should be from alcohol only and not marathon pain. Quote

Henry_VIII Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Cracking effort SY86 how old are you? Born in 86 by any chance? What about you Birch? Please so you both in your 20's I will be pissed off if you are older than me My mate did it in 3.42 not bad for a 60odd year old. Stiffer than a stiff thing today Quote
birch-chorley Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 27 Your mate must be in great shape for 60 odd year old, if I could finish a marathon at that age I would be happy let alone come in under 4. Quote
Sweep Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 fair play to anybody who does a marathon, no matter what time they finish in. I did a "cross country" half marathon (which was a lot harder than the previous "road" half marathins I have done previously) a few weeks ago and it nearly killed me, the last thing I wanted to do when I crossed the line was turn back and run back to the start again! I'm not so sure I've got a full 26 miles in me, so will stick to the 13 milers for the time being I reckon Quote

Sy86 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yeah born in 86 and I'm 26. Saw a couple of old timers near the end who had been ahead of me for 24 miles. Great to see that kind of endurance at that age. Quote
