Sweep Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 It all started to go terribly wrong when the budgies left the Arndale...bring the budgies back and the town will start to prosper again Quote
fatolive Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 i'll check next time i'm there, but it only splits for about 6 car lengths, doesn't it? and the increased chance of collision beyond the lights hardly makes it worthwhile yeh, not saying it's a good idea just that that will possibly be the reasoning for it, the flow into town would be worse than it is if the traffic could not get past traffic waiting to turn into Hypatia st and 6 cars extra in a single queue may well just take it over castle st at peak according to the traffic counts they base these thing on. I don't know like, just summising. Quote

Bit of signage and paint on the road then it wouldn't be so bad. I had some cunt in a fucking bus trying to get past me in it the other week. Quote

I don't know like, just summising. You've got it pretty much spot on there. I think Bunning off that right hand lane all together would help the traffic flow better as it removes the bottle neck as everyone merges back into one lane. Ideally I'd like the council to get the required millions to cpo all the front gardens and turn bury road (and all the main roads out of town) into a dual carriageway complete with junction expansions to improve capacity. The push button crossing in tonge fold is a massive hindrance to traffic flow along that stretch. It was put in before my time but I imagine pedestrian safety was given higher priority than traffic flow Quote
Big_Sharps Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 It's a good job those running Manchester didn't think, we're wank, we can never compete with that London, so why bother? London is fucking miles away, hardly on the doorstep of Manchester. Quote

frank_spencer Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Conversely, that's the only thing that allows cars turning right on Ainsworth Lane to get out. I looked at putting lights on that junction a few years back and getting rid of the push button crossing (as they'd be too close together to work properly. The councillors didn't want to fund it. Carlos Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Back to knocking Bolton, are the Romanians still hanging round and robbing charity shops? Or are the council going to gloss over that? Quote
no balls Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Back to knocking Bolton, are the Romanians still hanging round and robbing charity shops? Or are the council going to gloss over that? I walked from Costa to M&S the other week and saw a number of them with children who wouldn't look out of place with Fagan. I'd imagine it's quite intimidating for some people & another reason people would avoid the town centre. Similar to Macedonia in places. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) I walked from Costa to M&S the other week and saw a number of them with children who wouldn't look out of place with Fagan. He'd be able to show them how to shimmy up a drainpipe into the Queen's bedroom...(then rob it). Don't ever mention them to a 'real' Romanian, they refer to them as Tziganes and they're almost universally despised. Edited November 2, 2012 by Youri McAnespie Quote
