Why stop at Asda, mate?

You could carry on for miles in that direction.

Very true, that on that road is the only decent looking part of it though. pyjama wearing bandits aside.

conspiracy theory 8 million -- is it any coincidence that the downfall of the lower end of bradshawgate and manchester road started since a superb football club decided to up sticks and emigrate to the back of beyond ?

please feel free to discuss and abuse.......

So the Council are now using Wanderersways as a 'think tank'? First BWFC, then The Bolton News, now it seems the local government too. We're rapidly becoming the string pullers behind the muppets :) A local Illuminati?

Correct. Wanking booths to hit churchgate by 2015.

And I've heard there's going to be an elephant abortoire abertoire abartoire slaughter house where Bolton News have just moved out of. You get to vote for the next weeks killing method.

Who is this prick?

Bolton Council leader Cllr Cliff Morris said: “You’re off again, ‘let’s bash Bolton’.

“What have the Conservatives done for the businesses in the town centre?

“VAT went up to 20 per cent, business rates are up 13.5 per cent. “What has this government done?”

Head in the sand whilst blaming others stuff like this makes my teeth itch.

The place has been dying for 10 years, I'm fairly sure Labour were running the gaff then.

Wigan and Bury (not exactly know for being Tory hotbeds) have redeveloped with great success in that period of time, what's this arsehole done with Bolton?

Fucking halfwit.

I bet he's one of these cunts who only turns up for the butties.

Cunt.

i know frank monitors this thread

a few weeks back, welephant asked why we couldn't make near that pet place at TM into 3 lanes

frank quoted his facts and figures straight from his bible - clear evidence that common sense aint applied

'i was only obeying the rules'

anyway

which book says its clever to go from one lane to 2, just 100 yards before a junction then chop it back to 1, 50 yards through the junction

i give you approaching the traffic lights leaving town just past the bradford arms

fcuking madness

cunts like me using the outside lane, then cutting up patient folks

ludicrous

I've always wondered what that bit of road is all about, it truely is a bit farcical

Further proof they are quite happy to see the decline continue...

Daft to dismiss the idea of a conference. A good idea or two might have surfaced.

But Walsh, who's as big a dipstick as Cliff Morris is looking for a short term fix which won't succeed. The town needs jobs. Proper paying ones, not those in 'entertainment' which pay fuck all. I don't see anyone in local politics seeking a way to make that happen.

1st part if tmr was made 3 lanes not to the standards set out in the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and there was an accident then both the council and the designing engineer would be hauled in front of the courts.

The 2nd part I have no idea and its one if my personal gripes.

And Clifford is a wazzock.

Had to go into branch to do some banking yesterday, noticed Burtons has erm...gone for a burton? But also noticed, in the five minutes I was in town, a camera'd up smart car and a 'civil enforcement officer' (lurking near the Old Whittakers/Sports Direct).

Good to see their main concerns are still addressed correctly.

may seem it, and i would suspect it's for the following, two lanes there halves stacking length so not affecting castle st junction and further back

back to one lane again to make room for the right turn area town bound at hypatia st. if this was still two lane width at this point, any traffic wishing to turn right into hypatia st would stop traffic town bound whilst traffic was flowing out of town.

not facts, just my guess at why this layout is as it is, though the two lanes at the lights will definitley to reduce stacking lengths.

Has nobody considered that the town centre is wank and it will never compete with Manchester?

It's a good job those running Manchester didn't think, we're wank, we can never compete with that London, so why bother?

i'll check next time i'm there, but it only splits for about 6 car lengths, doesn't it?

and the increased chance of collision beyond the lights hardly makes it worthwhile

What about bury? its now light years ahead of bolton. In the 80's Bolton had a good reputation for shopping with the market hall, town centre and market. IMO they simply gave up on it and pointed to the Trafford Centre and Middlebrook and other out of town centres as competition they could not compete with. Add to that labour's anti car vendetta over the last 25 years and you have the answer.

Bury continually and slowly updated its centre culminating in the new Rock development, how come they managed to do it leaving bolton sitting on its arse?
