Baroness Campbell of Loughbporough (chair of Sport UK) was tipping the women's hockey before the first match.

(I remember her as Sue Campbell of Derby Ladies AC and Bedford PE College - in the top 10 UK discus throwers and best all-round thrower, and netball international in the late 60s).

...and the news about the wonderfully eccentric Boris Johnson brightened my day too. The political TV programme down here (Agenda) even commented on our Boris. They reckon he's the only politician who can fall into a river and then dangle from a high wire and his stocks go up!

does one false start not DQ you in the olympics?

Not in multi-event competitions.

 

In days of old when a second false start was disqualifiable in ordinary racing, two were allowable in multi-events but a third was disqualifiable. The logic may have been because they have 3 trials in long jump or throws.

so when it comes to the 100m for example a false start and you're out, like bolt earlier this year in some other championship?
