September 10, 201213 yr Went to the National Football Museum today with the Mrs, got a bit about disasters in grounds and this was one. Showed the mrs this video when we got back. Horrific viewing really. Her first question "why are there no fire engines when the whole stand is alight?" my response was "because its only been 4 minutes" Mental how quick it spread. September 13, 201213 yr My god - that was awful. Didn't realise the speed in which it all happened. To see people actually on fire is truly dreadful and something that you wouldn't wish on anybody. What a way to go and all because you went to a football match...........
September 13, 201213 yr When I did my stewards training at Cov City they showed us this and pointed out what went wrong and caused it to be so bad. Wooden stand with years of detritus underneath it prime fuel. Everyone tried to evacuate back the way they came in rather than onto the pitch like they'd do now. The doors were barred shut and apparently opened inwards with no fire doors causing folk to be trapped under the stand. similar to Hillsborough the training of stewards was nil so they had Fuck all idea what to do. They also pointed out the number of people in the footage still dicking about despite folk on fire. Absolutely harrowing viewing and alongside Hillsborough brought about many changes some good some bad.

September 13, 201213 yr I lived in Bradford at the time, on the day of the game i rang my dad jsut he knew i had nt gone to the game, he made a joke about it and I told him to fuck off for the one and only time in my life. I knew a few people who were there and over the years got to know many more, it is amazing the difference in attitude and awareness of this and Hillsborough. No one has really tried to blame any for this and everyone i know who was there is very philosophical about the day.
