Mendy and Gardner.

Gardner I sort of agree with

With regards to Mendy, I've heard a loit of people talk about his as though he was great. I thought he was bloody awful and was an accident waiting to happen all the time. In fact I rate Mendy up there with Cid for cack Bolton defenders. Am I missing something?

Harsh that. Mendy at least had some plus points (okay, maybe just one). Cid had none, he was the worst defender I have ever seen in a white shirt ... and that includes when we played in the lower leagues.

Henrik Pedersen

arguably the worst defender i have seen live, hes up there with gary caldwell when we beat wigan 4-0

Derek Scott

Barry cowdrill (door to door salesman in Stockport)

Gardner, Gardner and if he was available for Saturday, Gardner

Mendy was here during Okocha's wonder 1st season, he was a good wing back for us imo, defending weren't great but he provided a threat, could run up and down and get past a man, Can't say I rated him at Hull or elsewhere, but at the time I wanted us to extend his loan or see if we could get him permanently.

I think JOB was great for us at RB, but dreadful in midfield. Candela was a good player, but struggling to think of anything other than hitting the bar v Norwich that he did that was eyecatching. Gardner was player of the season in that position (?) injury messed with him too.

I used to quite like Cox.

GO!

I guess from this Phillips in the 80s was better than Phillips in the mid 90s when i started going (maybe im being unfair expecting him to adapt in the prem but that first season we where up he was far from great)

I was just going to say Vinnie Candela :)

A very, very short career for us, but a player who, very similar to Hierro, just seemed to ooze class. Shame we couldn't have kept him for longer.

Barry Cowdrill and then Ricardo Gardner have been my faves.

Wish we'd had Candela longer also

Mr reliable himself?

Was it west brom away when mendy ran the length of the field with the ball, squaring it to pederson for 1-0? Great run was that.

it was

and he was great wide left that night we beat spurs with a late, late penalty

Was it not Sunderland away when he pinged one at goal on the floor and keeper palmed it out and pederson came steaming in to put it in the rebound?

Wasnt he at fault though for there equaliser in the last minute?

I'm the only one that remembers Candela being a fat and slow fucker then?

Had a beer with him in a bar in Manchester and he was fatter than me

I think it's rose tinted glasses from folk, as he was very good elsewhere

Mandy was absolutely unplayable for a short spell when him, SKD and a another interchanged as a "front 3"

Fullback though? Shite, you'd get more tackle from Chris Eagles

David Burke had a good spell for a few games but was generally shit

Jimmy Phillips a major boo boy for a long time in his second spell

Gudni and Bruno stand out. Knew Gudni was a good'un when he came at Wembley shoring up where mcmanamanamananan had been granted freedom of the pitch

I think it was! Round that time we was making a habit of conceding late goals.

Remember the one at sunland too. Was it the same game when okocha was ruining them.

Great memories!

Oh and of course Nicky Hunt actually was great until:

(Delete as appropriate)

He turned billy big time (a DJ for christ's sake)

The fans started on him because he's a local

He went shit

Wasn't it when he put his shoulder out? And was never the same?

Or when he said Phil Neville was shit

Four shockers at full back were:

70's Mike Walsh

80's Eric Snookes

90's Aljofree

00's Alonso

Yup! Plenty of Wanderers at West Brom for that game!

ian Mully from the 80's still playing now I think for Wogdens over 40's :shiftyninja:

Phil Brown & Mike Whitlow, I also liked Derek Scott

Worst - Bo Hansen and Henrik Pedersen.
