Bolton Taxis

OK, I've read it often enough on here about how shit Metro are, so who do you recommend and why?

I'm likely to be needing taxis etc over Christmas.

I lost my mobile phone in a taxi t'other week, and being pissed up i couldn't remember which companies taxi i'd jumped in.Went down to Metro's office on TMR and they waded through over 50 jobs on the computer before confirming that i hadn't jumped in one of their cabs. I kept ringing the phone all day and it was eventually answered by a driver from Bank st and he explained that he'd only just started work and heard the phone ringing - he fetched it round to my house within the hour.

So to answer your question..........Redline. :D

Metro are fine

Use them every week

Only had 3 issues with them

Bestway.

If they could advertise at Burnden then they are good enough for me.

North West coz they're the Best !

Back in the day, mate. They were all I used.

I even had an account with them, so my staff could get home from work safely.

most in MG use ACE 61777

I know mate. I was their fourth ever driver believe it or not. Not my job of course, just a 'reserve' for busy times. Bestway 11 I was (I chose the number for it's football connotations)..

A job you can fucking keep. Pain in the arse drunks wanting to fight you; runners; groups of pissed up grannies groping your bollocks and offering head jobs or more as payment.

You meet all walks of society in that job and, in my experience, if you weren't doing days, most of it was at the very least unpleasant.

Metro taxis are fine, they just drive like absolute cocks.

I've started deliberately slowing down when infront of one, making sure they can't pull out etc.

I'll not use Metro again. They lied to me, then called me love on the phone. Fuck off, I'm not your love. Making me and the Big Chain Smooking Power Drinking Commoner late for the match just isn't acceptable.

They drove up a country lane and tried to fettle with me too.

Bloody hell P! I nearly pissed myself laughing reading that. Do you remember that year when we both worked nights at Bestway? It was 1985, I think. Outstanding. Some of my favourite memories include:

  • Turning onto Bury Old Road and the gear stick of that poxy fucking Peugeot they gave me coming off in my hand.
  • The fine balancing act of making sure that I didn't put too much fuel in aforementioned shitheap so that the poor bastard that had to drive it on the next shift didn't benefit at my expense. I had to revise that particular strategy when I ran out of fuel driving round the outfield at Tonge CC on my way to the clubhouse with three slappers on board - all calling me a twat, which seemed a fair call.
  • The three young (18?) Breightmet scrotes who I took from the Top Bull to the middle of Farnworth one Saturday evening. On arrival they threatened to kick fuck out of me and buggered off without paying. An experience made sweet as they were too thick to realise that their Sunday lunchtime boozer of choice (Tansey Green) happened to be my local. Me and three of my mates (all home on leave - you'll know who I mean, P!) having a quiet chat with them, emptying their pockets to recover the outstanding fares by dangling them upside down over the pool table and then "chastising" them on the car park still makes me smile when I think of it. I bet they never did a runner again. I suspect the ringleader was incapable of running again for a considerable time.
  • Knocking back the offer of a blowjob in lieu of payment of fare from more than one knackered old tart over the course of the year. I'm guessing they'll all be dead now!

Bloody good times! I wouldn't fancy doing it again though.

I always use STB (or whatever they're now called) 01204 365366.

Never had a problem with 'em, but then again their base is only about 50 yards away from me and I rarely use them anyway..

Edit: Carlos you twat, just spat my brew out on seeing your avatar.

STB changed to Jo Baxi, which is now summat else and Metro taxis are used at their base near Argos.

STB tried charging us £15 back to the Hare n Hounds from their office. (1 1/2 miles). Because he had no price list and ID we paid nothing :)

And I assume they're all charging the same or thereabouts?

Metro normally ask you paid last time. I don't think that many are completely au fait with sterling so just make something up.

Won't MickyD pick you up?

In his fire engine?

In his fire engine?

Aye

He was offering free lifts back from Manchester the other week, so I'm sure he'll happily do a Bolton pick-up.

In his fire engine?

I would have thought so, he might even let you look at his helmet and ring his bell
