I went into a WH Smiths this weekend, as Mrs CWP was fucking around in some womans clothing shop, so I popped in to have a noisy at some books - I think everything was being sold at half price or less, and it was horrendous. Judging by what I saw in that particluar store, I would image closure would be fairly imminent
January 16, 201313 yr WH Smiths is one of my accounts, they have 3 segments- High street - dieing a death Travel (train / airports) - performing better but not great Franchises (motorway service stations)- similar performance to travel They are not in great shape but the non high street parts should prop the rest up as they make silly margins and demand huge sums from suppliers. Wouldn't be surprised if they shut some high street stores though.
