Read on twatter a post by Reebok Voice saying he had been in The Market Place and was suprised to see so many empty shops.

 

I think he said 20 odd closed. I went in sunday and also couldnt believe how many closed!

 

Well according to the Bolton News, another 2 are closing.

BOLTON town centre is to get a new cinema and restaurants in a multi-million pound transformation of The Market Place, its new owners have revealed.

The Moorgarth Group has bought the shopping centre and says it will plough another £15 million into revitalising it with a nine-screen cinema and restaurants

The more reasons people have to come into the town centre can shirley only mean the town centre will attract more people.

 

Hopefully, with a cinema, at long last, back in the town centre you'll have folk coming in and having a gander round the shops, having something to eat, etc.

 

One can only hope this is the start of a very long road to get Bolton back to being a thriving town centre.

This means it will be a minimum of six weeks before it can approved. However, council leader Cllr Cliff Morris pledged that, if necessary, a special planning committee meeting would be arranged to speed it through.

 

In other words, if Cliffy gets a bung...
