It's called 'maturity'. I used to drink gassy shite lager when I was a kid but I really enjoy a decent cask bitter or pale ale these days. Admittedly I'll have a decent lager abroad. It would be criminal to not get shit faced on summat like Duval or Jupiler in Belgium, for example, wouldn't it?

Barrel glass SJM? I changed to lager because there was so many different bitters and I'd spend half my time pulling my nose at the bar, Boddies I just couldn't drink at all. There's only Fosters I don't like in lagers so I'm staying put.

My brother in law weaned me off the yellow tasteless fizz in 1976 when I used to help him fit central heating. He introduced me to cask Boddies before it became the tasteless coloured keg froth brewed by Whitbreads. Twas so "bitter" in those days it took some getting used to.

I dont mind lager or bitter at the right prices. Struggled a bit with a pint of Holts bitter last night though.

Yup this happened to me in the last few years

 

Mainly pub thing, as I'd still have bottles of lager at home

I happily switch between both depending on my mood. I like them both, I do try not to mix them on a night out though, as that causes me to feel rough as fuck the next day.

About 10 year ago I just went off lager overnight, couldn't stomach it anymore, went onto bitter and mainly caffreys for about six months

 

Till I went to kos for 2 weeks and it just isn't the drink to have on a lads holiday when it's dead hot, so went back to lager

 

Don't drink shit like carling or fosters anymore, premium lager, pale ales and stuff like Brooklyn and Sam Adams these days, which generally means I always end up smashed when I drink

 

Brewdog and port street beer house in manc are both great places to do this type of drinking

Always bitter in pubs, unless its a rubbish pub, then it's a Guinness.

 

When I did go to clubs before I turned into an old fart, it'd be bottles of lager, cos the bitter was always shite and the cynic in me was convinced they'd water the lager down.

 

Home? Anything really. Quite liking the new American stuff like Sierra Nevada IPA.

I def drink more bottles when out these days, used to always prefer a pint as would always neck bortles dead quick

 

Don't mind paying £4+ for a bottle if it's good stuff like that

 

Never got people who pay over the odds for smaller bottles of becks, the fact they aren't 330ml offends me

Nowt wrong with ditching crap lager that are full of chemics, If you like drinking at home I would recommend trying some of these. Free delivery to your door, I bought 3 cases at xmas, Hurdler, Old School and the Lager was bloody good aswell.

Lager should only be drunk on a hot day in a chilled glass, some of the bitters out there are absolutely superb but they must be kept well and you don't get the quality in many town centre pubs, at the moment my local shabeen is serving silver tally from Standish and it's bang on.

Aye Prospect at Wigan turn some decent bitters out, and Silver Tally is indeed an excellent drop.
