No doubt DF plays to a plan its sit deep give the opposition no space to play in between the midfield and back 4 and defend properly if the percentage ball is played into the penalty area but you cannot control the game without the ball unless you have a magic wand completely ridiculous statement.

Mounts there will be a certain amount of bluster I'm sure

But when we don't have the ball we look alot more in control of the game than we did 6 weeks ago; alot more

For example we can decide when to press, when to sit and seem to be doing so pro-actively. This dictated what the opposition do with the ball and in doing so controls the game to a great extent

Compare to under OC where there appeared to be no defensive gameplan and we controlled nothing without the ball; it all depended on how good they were with the ball as to if scored or not.

Whereas yesterday Brighton were decent (at this level) with the ball, but created very little

That ain't luck

The element of luck came when Brighton hit the post early on whilst they were dominating.

Lonergan wasn't getting to it and a goal then would possibly have meant defeat.

Granted we can choose to press or sit any good team does that but we again had a large slice of luck, there best striker Smith was out injured they created some good opportunities but were not good enough to take them similar to Peterborough, a good team would have comfortably beaten us but I will take the luck and the win and hope we can take the season to the wire.

Coulda woulda shoulda

It wasn't a clear cut chance anyway and was outside of the post

We still restricted them to precious little wide open chance wise. They had the odd free header too and we ain't perfect, but it's alot better and a clean sheet against a good team that will retain possession. As I said under OC we'd have panicked instead of just bedding in, being disciplined and doing our jobs, which we did do

Our best opportunity wasn't even shown on FSL, which was N'gog's stab over

Don't bring injuries into Mounts, We've had that for 2 years. What comes around, and all evens itself out over a season etc.

Fact is, we have taken 4 points from a team who are as good as I've seen on the ball at this level. They may have had 60% possession over the two games, but we've got four points.

We are still in transission and will continue to improve under this chap. Onwards and upwards.

I agree we were better yesterday I'm saying Brighton had chances as did Peterborough but neither team were good enough to take them, we are getting better the togetherness and effort is there for all to see but we are very much a work in progress.

Indeed we are, no argument there

I still feel we won't get promoted so I'm not completely taken with it

However whee we differ is I think we really limited BHA yesterday chance wise....we kept saying "it's coming" yet it never did

Whee was the usual Zat Knight slip up? A goalkeeping error? A wayward backpass? Etc that we've seen in recent weeks.....

It's clear DF and LL doing something right there tactics are getting us the wins at the moment so no reason to change it just keep doing the same and winning games its still a tough call but I'm more confident of a play off spot than I was 2 weeks ago and it would be an unbelievable achievement if we succeeded.

I think you might have slightly missed my point.

It was suggested that no luck was involved. when you only win 1-0, luck is invariably involved: good or bad.

When we were on a losing run, that shot hits the inside of the post and scrapes in.

The win wasn't lucky, we deserved it, but luck was on our side.

It's a bit of a moot point really, like the impact sub! :D

He's a handfull. Especially in the last 20 minutes. Strong and quick. Might not be Marco Van Basten but he does a job for us and at £300,000 he'll do for me.

See I disagree

Surprise!

I know you understand "luck" in your business

Therefore i'm sure you agree that just because we won, it doesn't mean we were lucky; a much as that shot could've hit the other side of the post, their player could've missed the goal line clearance or N'gog gets a fainter touch and stab it in not over

Luck / probabilities of another outcome / on another day etc; all the same shit

And as much "went" against us on that front yesterday as went our way

That's why I reckon we weren't lucky :D

You've just pretty much agreed with what I said.

IMO settled side has helped massively over the past few weeks.

especially in the 'spine' of the team that pundits like to talk about.

you know that Dawson, knight, Spearing, Pratley and N'Gog will be there and the other players will change around that but the middle is always the same.

suggesting we're settled doesn't really do freedman and the players he has used justice

theres been plenty changes

theres a change or two every game, we've lost our keeper, our best attacking midfielder who looked at his best, he's switching the attacker regularly

he's just on the ball

just as i hoped he'd be looking at what he had done with little money at palace

its also a big tick to the players who arte making it work

seems those of us who thought we had decent players being mismanaged, may just have been right

granted, dawson has been a massive influence

Re DF's after-match comments ...........

I just wish he looked a bit less haggard & beginning to enjoy the job.

It's us fans that are having years taken off our lives watching some of these games. :rolleyes2:

For those interested, Brighton brought 1,118 yesterday. Thought they'd bring more considering the importance of the match at this point in the season. Also shows what a good following we took to there place in November (1,274) considering we were 17th in the league.

Luck is a funny thing, when you're on a bad run the ball hits our post and goes in, on a good run it hits our post and goes out and it's about time our luck changed as we've had plenty of bad luck over the last couple of seasons and being on a good run as we are at the minute little lady luck is on our side
