March 10, 201313 yr If we didn't finish in the playoffs can you see us maintaining form next season? Getting in the playoffs and then ultimately not getting promoted could dent us a bit. Not for me Not with DF I think this is a strategic bloke that is all for building for the future. Listen to his interviews I'd back us to be better next year. Budget and contractual negotiations allowing
March 10, 201313 yr Author Not for me Not with DF I think this is a strategic bloke that is all for building for the future. Listen to his interviews I'd back us to be better next year. Budget and contractual negotiations allowing That's the only issue I have the Bolton of old we all know and love used to enjoy selling our best players for peanuts. I fear a lot of cuts and sales if we don't do it this time. On the plus side I think Dougie Can work with these constraints as proven at Palace.
March 10, 201313 yr Think our run has come a little to late [ hope im wrong], but if we do sneak into the playoffs then its possible us and forrest being the form teams battle it out at wembley. the next two are massive, very difficult ipswich and charlton. at the very least we have to take 4 points.
March 10, 201313 yr 11/4 to make the play offs and 7's to get promoted. On the 23rd of Feb we were 25/1 for the play offs and 66/1 for promotion. How things change.
March 10, 201313 yr 11/4 to make the play offs and 7's to get promoted. if you think we can get promoted, i don't know why you'd take the 11/4 for me, getting in is the hard bit 6 wins from the last 9 might do it a tad over 1.5 ppg is currently in the play offs, so 71/72 would be my guess as a minimum requirement

We could also be in a play off spot and be masters of our own destiny if things go well.....
March 10, 201313 yr I can't face going to wembley again, never seen us win there If we get there you can stay at home and guard the town.
March 11, 201313 yr If we didn't finish in the playoffs can you see us maintaining form next season? Getting in the playoffs and then ultimately not getting promoted could dent us a bit. If we fall short this season then I'm confident, nay VERY confident that next season we'll go up automatically. Dougie will have a summer to sort out the squad and we'll start with the players he knows can play to his gameplans. Considering the turnaround he's managed with an inherited squad that was an utter shambles in terms of organisation and confidence, you'd be a fool not to back us. Edit: In answer to Tomski's question, I fear we have left it just one or two games too late and we'll come heart-breakingly close. Edited March 11, 201313 yr by DazBob
March 11, 201313 yr I've had a look at the remaining fixtures for the other main rivals, both Leicester and Forest have tough run ins, Brighton should have enough games they will win to get into the playoffs. In order for us to get in, I reckon we need to win all 4 home games and 2 from Ipswich, Charlton & Brizzle City and avoid defeat at Leicester. A big ask but do-able
March 11, 201313 yr we need 18 points from last nine games to make play offs, so 2 points per game. We have to get at least 10 points from 4 home games, which would leave 8 from 5 away games. 4 points from the next 2 away games keeps us in the hunt, less than that we will struggle, looking at other teams games then think we will drop back in next 2-3 weeks due to the away games and teams playing games in hand. It is still a toughie, but if you think 5 games ago we need 33 points from last 14 games.....who knows ?
March 11, 201313 yr we need 18 points from last nine games to make play offs, so 2 points per game. as posted, i'm at 18, too but it may be less guessing that teams generally fall away towards the end when pressure kicks in so it could be slightly less not much, but maybe 5 wins and a draw or 2
March 11, 201313 yr just done that predictor again, if we get a draw at ipswich and leicester and win all our home games then we finish 6th
March 11, 201313 yr Surely Big Mick will fucking tonk us! given our new found goalkeeper i reckon 1-1
March 11, 201313 yr Ive said all along it would take 72/73 to get in, i aint changing my mind, still think its 72. Why the discussion about what the gap was to play offs in November was totally irrelevant. Doesnt matter what the gap was then, would still need to get to low 70s ourselves. I didnt see that pre xmas, i still think we may fall just short but its been a good effort of late and we've a chance. 4 very winnable home games and need 2 wins on the road.
March 11, 201313 yr The gap is more relevant than the points tally. 72pts and in the play offs is better than 74pts and 1 place short. Mind the gap.
March 11, 201313 yr Yep i agree it is now, the gap is the most important thing with a few games left. Irrelevant looking at the gap when everyone is on 25-35 points though as you know its going to take around 70 so doesnt matter how many you are behind in November. Worry about at least giving yourself of getting to around 70 first and then the gap when you get to the run in.
March 11, 201313 yr seeing as nobody knows in november what you will need in may, its just as easy to make a case that gap is all important at least you know what you have to make up
March 12, 201313 yr I'm excited... Would rather be in our shoes than many around us... Confidence and form mean a lot
March 12, 201313 yr Can see cardiff.leeds and brighton wins tonight.1 place up for grabs between us forest leicester leeds and boro, brighton will have enough to make playoffs.
March 12, 201313 yr Also think Brighton will win tonight but still think there are 2 play off places up for grabs. Mackaill Smith out for the season and Barnes suspension might cost them.
