whiteboy Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 scarily good...who is going to give him a match? Quote
exiledwhite2 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Ruined him. Seen a fair few of his pro fights, he just looks a completely different class to owt he's faced. Not a boxing officiando meself, will he go all the way? We'll know a lot more when he gets smacked on the chin. He does appear to have incredible potential though. And in the Olympics he showed he has heart and grit. It's really a question of how good his chin is, and his stamina. Quote

exiledwhite2 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 tis true go back to bruno and he was rolling over all sorts til BANG was it bonecrusher? It was. To be fair, Smith was a capable fighter, took prime Tyson to points, won the world title etc (after beating Bruno). But he wasn't meant to beat Frank! Unless Joshua is very, very well conditioned, that ridiculous physique could well suggest similar stamina issues to Bruno. It's very draining to carry all that muscle. Quote
Zico Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 not that I'm a fan of boxing or owt, but saw this on YouTube this thread seems as good a place as any to post http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yNWfRfaHPU Quote
seasoned Traveller Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 He needs to take a few serious cracks and stand upto them before he gets my vote. Look at Price, no chin at all. Quote
royal white Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Obviously he's a massive talent but I can see a fight with price going the same way as when Haye faught Carl Thompson Quote
Owiseone Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 He needs to take a few serious cracks and stand upto them before he gets my vote. Look at Price, no chin at all. I saw the "fight" on Saturday and listened to Price afterwards. I think even now Josua would outbox, out punch and outclass Price. IMHO Josua is far better than any heavyweight we have had in recent years. Lennox Lewis aside. Oh and Ben Flower. ha Quote
Garrp Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Its funny as fuck listening to those on here talk about Joshua. He would walk through Price in a few rounds. He's the real deal by a country mile, anyone who can't see it is watching the wrong sport. Quote

He's the real deal by a country mile, anyone who can't see it is watching the wrong sport. Are there any other British heavyweights you've said the same thing about in the last couple of years? Maybe one who, I dunno, made a complete dick of himself in Germany perhaps. It is much, much, much, much, much too early to say how good he is or isn't. The best anyone can say is that he's been far too good for the crap put in front of him so far. British boxers have a very long history of being too good for the domestic and Euro level and not nearly good enough at world level. British boxing hugely overrates its fighters. Joshua is not so good that the same should not be expected of him. This conversation is pointless for about another eighteen months. Quote
whiteboy Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Price is the (relatively) risky fight - he can certainly punch. Remember he nearly had Thompson out of there in the rematch, things would be different if the ref had waved it off. No way it will be eighteen months before we see him in some very decent fights. Not least because Eddie will want him PPV worthy for 2016 after Froch. Brook won't fill the gap Quote

Owiseone Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I read a post comparing Joshua to Bruno because of the muscle mass. Get real dude. Granted you can become muscle bound if your carrying to much mass but Joshua is taller than Bruno and lighter. No way is he muscle bound. Bruno could knock you out IF he landed. He had no hand speed, no killer instinct, two things Joshua has. You want to win some cash, have a flutter on Joshua uniting the heavy weight division in the next 5 years and Tyson "no chin" Fury getting sparked by Derek Chisora in November. Quote
maaarsh Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Dodgy rumour Haye is gonna fight on the Clev v Bellew PPV card - probably bullshit, but that card needs something like that for anyone to have interest in paying for it. Bellew Bingo is always fun at a press conference (double points for "drained at the weight" or "fookin rat") but his fights are fecking dire most of the time. Quote

Well im no mr universe admittedly but joshua looks very very heavily muscled to me. And Bruno was lighter at a similar age / level. He only weighed more than Joshua at the tail end of his career, as you'd expect, he put weight on as he matured. Joshua will too. It's been said earlier in the thread. It's FAR too early to judge Joshua. To unify the division he'll need to improve a lot, as is the case of any am turning over. It's not a foregone conclusion that he will do that, or that he has good intangibles like chin, recovery, stamina. I see no evidence at all that he can't be something special, he punches like a fucking truck, he seems game, he has the size you need these days. But there's so much you can't prove until you actually face half decent opposition. Quote

I like bellew and he's a good fighter, very good when he fights smart behind his jab, but he has to produce the biggest disparity between talk and action I've ever known. Quote

Maggie Tate Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Donaire dined out on that KO of Montiel for far too long, there's no-one else on his record. Golovkin is everything good about boxing. Dishing out vicious violence with the utmost in poise, sophistication and grace, and a decent bloke too. At least if they meet Cotto will have the chance to look brave. We will never see Golovkin's very best as there is only Mayweather who could get it out of him and that ain't happening. Quote
