alibob Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I've laughed once so far. And I'm the sort of person who laughs at Christmas cracker jokes. Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 It was funny at the time, comedy changes rapidly. He's old school now, bloody shame Quote
Winchester White Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 He is as funny as most of the other lot out there, he has done well out if his upside in his career and fair fucks to him for doing so. Quote
maaarsh Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Never seen this show before. Seen all the jokes before though... Still laughed my cock off. Quote
DirtySanchez Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Don't think it's in vogue to slag him off just that I've tired of his repetitive gags. He used to be funny now he isn't. And it's got nothing to do with him being from Bolton, he could be from Birmingham or Bournemouth for all I care Quote
DirtySanchez Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 need another phoenix nights Now that was funny, but probably best left alone Quote
Ghana White Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I thought the two other blokes who wrote phoenix nights with him don't bother with him anymore Quote
Traf Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Garlic bread. Garlic? Bread? Cheesecake. Cheese? Cake? Fucksponge. Fuck? Sponge? Aye, he's piss funny. No wonder non-Boltonians take the piss out of us yonners. Quote
finbwfc Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Didn't see the show on tv but if you ever have the chance to chat to him you will see he's a naturally funny guy. He finished writing his new show for the BBC last week so hopefully it will be on tv soon Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 isnt the bbc thing going to be iplayer only Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I thought the two other blokes who wrote phoenix nights with him don't bother with him anymore I heard that he claimed all credit for Phoenix Nights, and that Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice were not too amused. They weren't involved with Max and Paddy. Quote
Smiffs Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I heard that he claimed all credit for Phoenix Nights, and that Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice were not too amused. They weren't involved with Max and Paddy. You could tell too. It was shit. Quote
Carlos Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 He owes the people of Bolton royalties as half of it is just sayings or jokes that he's picked up on the way, not written himself. Quote
Zulu Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 He owes the people of Bolton royalties as half of it is just sayings or jokes that he's picked up on the way, not written himself. But that's the essence of all good comedy, isn't it? He's a very keen observer and he picks up on a community that is brimming with quality humour (you only have to follow this site to appreciate that!) and turns it into comedy routines. He's done very well for himself out of it - and good luck to him. I live away from Bolton now and Peter Kay's phenomenal success has only been positive as far as I'm concerned. He has enhanced Bolton's image and that of its inhabitants in my opinion. Quote
Carlos Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 No idea, most of it isn't observational, it's just reminding you of stuff. Like that unfunny twatspatula Michael McIntyre. Quote
