Let's face it - payday lending in Bolton is probably a boom industry...   Town is a desperate shithole, you know it, I know it, we all know it. But BWFC, for all their faults, are one source of prid

Balls.

just look at the post below yours

and he aint on his own

It's not my half arsed protest. 1500 have already signed that petition which has only been circulating 5 minutes.

Fair enough 1500 people have signed a petition thus far, and about 100 people will pitch up in the town centre today with bedsheets to protest (of which I don't doubt most of it will be the usual "rent a mob" type crowd who don't even follow Bolton) - so what, give it a month or so and it will all blow over and people won't give a monkeys as soon as the first ball of the season is kicked.

I've seen some people post the usual "This is our club, and we won't stand for it bollocks" - sadly somebody needs to tell them it isn't technically "their" club, and the it's highly likely anything will change, no matter how many bedsheets they spray paint or people set fire to themselves

We're brothers in arms though

No, we don't need to 'deal with it'.

Those of us who've had enough of this shit - and there are many thousands going off the response I've seen so far - need to get organised. Make it clear we're not having it - it's our club and Gartside and his cronies can get to fuck.

The money he and they have taken out of BWFC over the past 5 years - whilst simultaneously running up a debt of 130 million - could pay for this seedy little business deal 50 times over. The likes of Allan Duckworth, for example, who every year saw fit to pay himself half a million quick quid, whilst presiding over a failing 'business'. Where's he now?

And to add insult to considerable injury, the same parasites want us - the very people who've kept the club going through its darkest hours - to find the money for Nat's statue. Something which should have been erected when the great man was alive to see it... and which a month of Zat Knight's wages would pay for anyway!

Wake up!

COYW!

Do you run a business? Have you tried getting out of a contract that's been signed and verified?

The money it would probably involve in penalties and lawyer's fees would be huge - not to mention the void where we couldn't get/find another sponsor. Anyone with a slightly sensitive business wouldn't go near us after too - and they are the bigger payers.

Oh yes, Quick Quid is unlikely to back out without a fight as that would be acknowledgement that they have done something 'wrong', whereas they will see themselves as a legitimate business with every right to sponsor us.

Fact is, that's not going to happen. The club will do a 'KevinDaviesGate' and ride out the negativity. The MPs etc will get bored of the issues in a day or two, the protest will be a joke and we'll be linked with someone in the transfer market to take our minds off it.

I'm dead against it - but it's too late now the ink is dry.

This thread proves why it's wrong to use QQ as our sponser. It's splitting the fans, just because people agree/disagree there is no need to be told the club doesn't need them & to fuck off. What is the point in that?

These companies are under scrutiny from all sections including the government so there is obviously cause for concern. Those who don't give a fuck fine that is your prerogative, those that do fill your boots with protests, petitions etc but for fucks sake lets not fall out about it....

From what I can see the majority of people people complaining are not the usual club bashers. A lot of loyal fans who go every week are not happy about it. Nothing will change but they want to voice their disapproval, what is wrong with that?

Well speaking for myself, 35 years, 22 as a season ticket holder (11 of those whilst living in London). So what's your point?

Boooo. I'm playing footie after work tonight. Had I not been then I'd have made the short stroll over to the town hall for a gander.

I was that angry about the ribbons that I emailed them. Oooh I could have crushed a grape.

It's a shame I'm not in work today I could have thrown my poo at the bed sheet brigade from the office windows.

They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, but the recent coverage in the press isn't doing either party any favours

The whole thing feels slightly grubby to me and ill conceived. You'd like to think that somebody at the club would have thought 'this might cause a bit of a stink'. Maybe they did and are just hard nosed enough to think we'll go with it anyway, that extra £x's is worth the trouble.

I don't know. Mind you, this is the club that managed to completely balls up ticket allocations to a cup final, so maybe thinking shit through for 10 minutes is beyond them.

Anyone who signed the petition who isn't there tonight is a cunt.

One prick I know has claimed for 2 whiplash claims when there was fcuk all wrong with him and he is on Facebook moaning like fuck about Quick Quids lack of morals etc.

I think this is probably the case, they know a bit of a shitstorm is coming, but the cash incentive is enough for them to sit and ride it out

Now that both Wonga and Quick Quid have got a foothold in the football market, I wouldn't be surprised to see even more of this type of company appear on the front of teams shirts, some of the lower league teams really aren't in a position to turn down money offered for sponsorship deals, they always have to go with who offers most

Shame I'll be in work at 5 like many are or I'd be down with my balaclava doing a UAF style counter protest.

Is Rodney's brother coming up from the smoke to join his brothers in arms?

Edited by no balls

I hope to dear god that a national newspaper isn't there to photograph those protesting today, that could be embarrasing

Nail on head - it's just symptomatic of society. If folk want to fight that culture there's bigger fish to fry than QQ

It's a shame I'm not in work today I could have thrown my poo at the bed sheet brigade from the office windows.

You're not in work?? Why are you on WW then? :D

Time is the greatest healer. The opening game of next season will see hundreds if not thousands of fans wearing the new replica shirt.

steve battersby, odd fella, but long term fan, was wheeled out on radio manc this morning

think he's an accountant so on very thin ice, but he pretty much nailed it

there aint many places for gambling firms and payday types to advertise

more and more will look to football

he also felt that as we have to maximise our revenue, its was a perfectly understandable and reasonable decision

It is a fucking shit sponsor.

A company that prospers by charging fucking loads to people who can least afford it

It makes the club look cheap and nasty.

Pay day loan companies are the scum of the earth.
