Football Agent Sues Bolton Wanderers And Agency For Six Figure Sum Over Aston Villa Transfer Row

WANDERERS chairman Phil Gartside and three other club representatives are due to appear in court next year to settle a dispute over a £1 million transfer made six years ago.

Current club secretary Simon Marland, former manager Sammy Lee and director of football Frank McParland will also be called to a High Court case in Manchester on April 4 to answer claims against them from football agent Tony McGill that he was cut out of a deal to sign midfielder Gavin McCann from Aston Villa at the last minute in favour of rival agency Sports Entertainment Management (SEM).

So, we now know that the Badger was on a basic of £15,000 a week.

And I thought it was common knowledge it was 40k like everyone else.

Silly me

Why wait 6 years to make a claim when there is more than likely less evidence floating about? He must of been a poor agent if he didn't realise at the time.

Maybe he had enough money not to be bothered then but needs some cash now? It's irrelevant guessing why the delay though, what matters is justice is done

I'm reading that and weeping, did we really give Gavin Mcann a 5 year deal? Some one somewhere at the club should have vetoed that deal he played a miserly 88 games for us he must have been rubbing his hands with glee when that contract was put in front of him to sign.

Mccann was a perfectly reasonable player in my book.

Agree with that. Boro aside he made a good living off the whites with little return. Wasn't impressed when he signed and nought changed

But until post trial we won't know what justice is as we don't know if it's a valid claim

So if by your reckoning he's doing it because he's no cash it is not about the "justice" it's about the the compensation

Can't be arsed checking but a 5 year deal. Bollocks!

Under English Law a claimant has a time limit of 6 years to bring a claim for breach of contract. Maybe he got nowhere with "amicable" negotiation and he started the action to protect time.

It's something as a club we don't need at the moment but if its true we gave McCann a 5 year deal its no wonder we are in shite. At the time he was a decent signing no more no less should have been three years max.

Isn't he still at the club, coaching the kids?

Fuck justice.

Parasites.

I can't see that we gave him a 5 year deal, I reckon that's an error in the report

More gartside shit

Aye, football agents are renowned for their honesty.

390k for what, a weeks work at most???

Get to fuck.

Aye, football agents are renowned for their honesty.

I'd believe Aldridge Prior over an agent but if it fuels the Gartside Out band then that's their prerogative

only thing I remember him for was scoring in Belgrade against Red Star-the only English club to win there?
