Winter/snow Watch 2013/14

Get your thermals on

Next month sees the start of severe weather hitting our glorious country and hopefully cutting Scotland adrift from us.

My mucker up there who works for the Met Office, says November will bring very bad snowfalls and possibly record low temperatures for that time of the year.

He was pretty accurate re the nce summer we had and is adamant this winter will be severe.

All goes back to the ''blockers'' he told me about early this year.

Not at all mate.

Although it was never quite the same once labour stopped lobbing government funding about like jizz in a bukakke party.

Another opportunity came up.

I bought a business with my brother,re-modelled it,updated the equipment, targeted a different clientele as well as the steady old and things have gone from strength to strength pal.

High reach window cleaning being the name of the game.

My brother quit his hotel manager job and I turned down a year worth of work for browns so it was calculated gamble, but its paid off.

Haha I wish...trouble is most of em are 50ft up!

Main problem we faced last year was the equipment freezing up in the van over night.

The tank takes 10 hours to fill so its left over night, all the connectors and hoses were frozen solid.

This year we have got some neat alcohol to keep the pipes flowing, lagged all the external piping and got a camping heater for inside the van.

Obviously neither of us have a garage!

Wind is the worse for us S...you simply can't beat it.

Sure am mate.

We have a lot of traditional work as well though.

We have a few council and office block contracts where ladders are not allowed.

No ladder in the land would get that high anyway.

These equipment modifications, do they involve cameras on the pig poles?  ;)

Haha...no mate,it's more to do with a mattress on the back of the van for all the bored housewives.

Haha, I've just had a flashback to my window cleaning days. :D
