The curriculum might not change but the abilities and range of within the class does. And the lesson plan has to address that. My friend who is a teacher showed me the lesson plans they are required to produce and it isn't insignificant. And they do get inspected.

See i don't think teachers have an easy ride. It's just a job that's has pro's and con's like any other job.

 

What I do have issue with is the need to get the violins out at every opportunity and declare to the world what a tough and strenuous job it is.

 

Just crack on with it and nobody will bat an eyelid.

 

If you don't like the conditions or the salary,what on earth did you spend x amount of years training for it in the first place.

 

When it comes to work everyone has their own story,therefore people aren't up for being full of sympathy for moaning teachers.

 

Just go to work,earn your money and come home.

Swanny....serious question. If teaching is so shit and badly paid why are you bothering? Wouldn't be arsed for £22k a year if it really is 70 hour weeks etc. You could earn that in maccies.

 

As mentioned I think teachers from my experience are well paid. All my teacher friends live in nice houses, with nice lives, driving nice cars etc.

 

My sister certainly didn't struggle but when you get so high you don't teach you manage which is shit. the money is great at that level tho

Why not put it down to experience and do something else tbough

severely tempted.. However the past 2 schools I have visited, have been lovely schools and have done some very rewarding work.

08.30 to 15.30 working hours 5 days a week and 13 weeks holiday a year that's why.

It all comes down to incentivisation; I.e. Why did someone pick the career and also would they put up with the associated sacrifices in order to get those particular rewards.

 

Same as any career. However, as mentioned Education is both highly politicised and unionised, so it's not simply a case of choose to work in it or don't

 

It's also an emotive subject as in some form we have all had, or have, regular contact with teachers

 

I'd argue that my job has longer hours, more pressure and a lot more stress than the vast majority of teaching roles; but I perceive the rewards to be worth it.

Now a primary school teacher who was last year teaching year 6, and is now teaching year 3 with a load of foreign kids and council house asbos who cant wipe their own arses but were up killing Xbox zombies at 1am and came to school with Space Raiders for breakfast, fair enough...high school teachers teaching the same subject year after year...fuuuuuuuck off!

I know your ex was a teacher Smiffs, but that last comment show a fair degree of ignorance of how secondary education is run.

 

Set texts change all the time, the way you have to teach say, History changes. I guess in your day it was learn by rote dates etc. for me it was how to source and read primary and secondary evidence. Changed again after that back to more traditional date learning. Plus you don't just say right, history started here...let's go and see where we get up to in five year's time.
