Teachers Again

Apologies to those that do a tough job and work hard without moaning. Lecturers and even those in training dor a tough job...You know who you are ;)

However

I have a few of them moaning all the time on my FB wall about pay and conditions...

And 3 of the fuckers are posting pics today in expensive ski-ing resorts

Now fair enough

But stop moaning that you're on the breadline...is it bred into them at PGCE that they must moan about their salaries?!

And another link for you

Note where this paradise you buggered off to is in the ranking

Do I sound like the kind of bloke who would even bother to open a link to a bunch of statistics from your favoured left wing organisations and think tanks?

You only have to listen to todays youth with their 'fink' and 'fought' to know that educational standards have fallen.

Of course the NUT will manipulate figures and statistics to excuse their ineptitude (and mask their real agenda),

I can make my own mind up from what I see and hear.

2 types of teachers...MrG types who get the real world they live in and adopt to it, whilst loving what can be the most rewarding type of job going.

The other lot who moan about everything and think they are owed a living.

Sounds like every job I ever had !

The difference is the output from their job are our kids so whereas if someone fucks up in my job it hardly affects anyone outside the immediate circle. (Let's ignore the banking crisis and worldwide recession for now)

If smiffs dig the wrong hole somewhere future generations do not suffer.

But the idea teaching is a doddle is simply not true. My best mate and his missus both teachers love the job and the lifestyle if gives them, 5-6 weeks camping in France over summer etc etc. but they also have targets to meet. The whole of school life is focused on exam results so the workload builds up till exam times and then the kids need a break, sure there are a zillion research surveys that will show why schools have long holidays, it is not just for the teachers, it is the children that school is about and they need a break.

Given the easy life they lead surprised a few more of here do not pack in their slave labour and take up teaching.

can't take holidays in term time and have to pay full whack..

That's why they're peeved..

Ironically I'm rewriting my critical reflection this morning.. It's about

My misconceptions of entering the profession..

One MrG, there only one MrG

Company (small) I worked for in the UK refused to grant holidays if someone had already booked that time off. Teachers never have to negotiate time off which seems to be overlooked.

Because you know everything about everything. You are that billshitting know it all bore that folk avoid in pubs.

Thank fuck you live on a different hemisphere.

And I think that is your problem. Rather than dealing with and weighing up evidence and research you'd rather ignore it and just decide that your pre-formed opinions are correct.

I'm surprised the UK came second but that review has nothing to do with the NUT and was examining internationally recognised measures and evidence.

Billshitting? Maynard or the police programme?

Trust me, we are both equally happy we live in different hemispheres. Brainwashed commies went out of fashion when Scargill got crushed.

Yet another wonderful example of educational standards. Starting a sentence with the word 'and'. FFS.

It is perfectly acceptable to start a sentence with a conjunction. The fact that you don't know that is somewhat embarrassing. Though not as embarrassing as dismissing a source without reading it. Primary school kids know better than that.

Would we all not be moaning just as much, if we had a strong union in our own industry ??

Yes - When I was young I worked in business to business telesales for years. With the exception of the first company I worked for who were actually very fair (Spider knows this) I wworked for a succession of companies who could only be described as cunts. Despite being good at my job - I along with most of the other poor unfortunates who were working in the same industry was treated pretty poorly throughout the best part of a decade. I believed that this is just what the modern workplace was like and that I should just put up with it and grind my way through, despite how miserable it made me feel.

Since I moved into the NHS 5 years or so ago, that has all changed. I feel like I'm respected as an employee, treated with dignity and consideration. I also feel like I can hold my Managers accountable if I have problems. I suspect a large part of the reason for this is down to the unions fighting our corner over decades and I am happy and thankful that they did.

This is just my personal experience - I'm sure many would disagree.

terrible bait, young un ;)

I had Unison and GMB at my last place of employment they were twats more interested in keeping lazy cunts in work than solving real issues.

There was an issue with engineers leaving in droves for the private sector.

so a bit of research was done and it was recommended that salaries were brought closer to the market rate. This was done but only for management.

The rank and file were pissed off so asked the union rep to fight their corner in the department meeting. He chose to complain about the reams of paper being stored under the coat rail.

Although I do have to thank the unions for my nice pay off when I left on voluntary redundancy.

Slightly more acceptable than the number of sentences creeping into everyday use starting with the word, "So"

Its rare we agree, but from the short time I have been exposed to the culture wiithin to the NHS and that of the modern university, I find it a breath of fresh air from the 32 years I spent in industry.

Don't get me wrong, the rewards were tremendous in manufacturing and I did very well, but I found myself having to sell my soul and bury my own values in the dog eat dog, short term money making culture in order to fit in and progress.

However, I don't think I would put that down to unions, more the professional approach needed to give the kind of service and care expected of each profession makes it so.

I know 3 female primary school teachers.

They all have massive bangers and are pretty much hooked on wine.

Aaaarrrrgghh. I fucking hate that. Thode pitching on Dragons' Den are buggers for it.
