February 24, 201412 yr was he signed in the transfer window or the emergency one? i wonder how many bemoaning the departure of craig davies would swap them? at the moment i like craig davies btw
February 24, 201412 yr Can they recall him? That's the worry for me. I certainly hope not. Mind you, looking at his record prior to joining us I'd be surprised if they'd insisted on a recall clause. I'd imagine there weren't many Smoggies that were too sad to see him leave. If ever there was an example on why you shouldn't judge a player before he's been given a chance though, then Juke is that example. I like him a lot.

He might have been given plenty of a chance at Middlesbrough but sometimes it just doesn't work out, and you'll fit in better at another team. Remember when we plucked Bob Taylor from West Brom's reserves back when we were streets (and a league) ahead of them?
February 25, 201412 yr The juke has really impressed me. His hold up play is brilliant. Its pointless having someone who can bring players in like he does if you don't have anyone playing off him. Hopefully Dougie realizes this. Can see Boro either wanting him back or hiking up the price is he keeps it up. Fair fucks Dougie he looks a good un. But at least Boro have had a change of management since they signed him. It is within the bounds of possibility that they want rid of him, and the price might be less than we think (certainly hop so!). Either way we will know his worth to the team better than other clubs do. (And Watford have just signed Lucas Neill till the end of the season). Edited February 25, 201412 yr by MalcolmW
February 25, 201412 yr (And Watford have just signed Lucas Neill till the end of the season). Bloody hell, is he still knocking about in England? Well, obviously, yes
February 25, 201412 yr See that's the thing. He might have been given plenty of a chance at Middlesbrough but sometimes it just doesn't work out, and you'll fit in better at another team. according to wiki, he did ok last season with 10 in 24 but only 2 goals in 21 this season they've got a new manager guess he doesn't fancy him which is our gain, though it may not be their loss (which doesn't mean he's a bad un) Mason's goal record of 1 in 1 is so far a massive improvement on his 1 in 8 last time round, I didn't think he was much cop first time, but early early signs suggest this could be because he plays better when there's 2 up top the only way to find out is to carry on playing them both up top though it's not beyond the realms of possibility that DF would drop Jutkiewicz and play Mason on his own (that's not a pop at DF by the way, it's just a distinct possibility)
February 25, 201412 yr Bloody hell, is he still knocking about in England? Well, obviously, yes He was playing in Japan but their season ended in November, so he nipped over here (swidt) to try and maximise his chances of making bolty's world cup squad.
February 25, 201412 yr The 2 up front on Saturday were outstanding so i expect at least 1 of them to get dropped for Saturday

February 25, 201412 yr Mason was 1 in 1 first time round did he not score on his debut? No, it was an own goal, his shot was going well wide.
February 25, 201412 yr Does anyone know if we built in an option to buy Juke, and what the fee would be? Don't know the answer, but the Juke is half way through a 41/2 year contract so not sure he's going to be cheap. Interestingly of the 10 strikers in the Middlesborough squad five are out on loan. One of them being the infamous Danny Graham.
February 25, 201412 yr Remember when we plucked Bob Taylor from West Brom's reserves back when we were streets (and a league) ahead of them? ... and then sold him back to WBA at a profit!
February 25, 201412 yr ... and then sold him back to WBA at a profit! This is my point. A lot of times a player just needs a change of scenery to kick-start their career. I think the Juke falls in that category.
February 25, 201412 yr It wasn'tIt might somehow have been credited to Mason, but it was a sorry excuse of a finish that, if I remember rightly, needed two lumpy deflections to take it into the goal.
February 25, 201412 yr It wasn't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0YKii02RoI looks an own goal to me, going wide.
February 25, 201412 yr i think the point may be that unless you sit on the dubious goals panel, you opinion is worth less than records
