If my memory is holding out think the first united reserve game I did was Boxing Day in 79-80 at Burnden as I'd gone on travel club to villa and it was called off just as we could see Villa park from the motorway at that time the reserve games were played Saturday afternoon, anyone recollect this?

Did anyone go to that reserve game against this lot at Burnden when half the paddock were singing Munich songs?

Sure Stuart Whittikar scored for us.

I was at that one. Was there not a big crowd because it was Andy walkers first game back after his knee injury? I remember thinking how fast Whittaker was and swearing to everyone at school the next day he was going to be a world beater ha ha.

That's the one!

Think there was one steward working and he got given the task of telling the lads on the paddock to stop the chants.

Saw Little Stewy playing for reserves at Fleetwood one night as well,he basically ran rings round them all night.

Wonder what happened to him....

He passed through Leigh RMI for the second time in 07/08, then went to Stafford Rangers.

always good to beat the red bastards.

Remember Whittaker starting for us at Macc in a league cup game I think

He was alright but you just knew he wasn't big or strong enough

I went to that match better atmosphere than the league games. Started off in manny rd then they opened the lever end finished up in the paddock. Scum fan got pissed on top to toe, on the paddock.

We won on pens.  They're not having a lot of luck on the penality front currently, are they? :)

I was at that. I remember a lad about 13 or so in a united shirt in Manny road terrace who got loads of shit, then unbelievably, came to the next Bolton home match in the burnden terrace wearing the same shirt. Ended getting chased out of the ground by spazzy Darren. That was the Bolton team with Martindale upfront banging them in for fun. I thought he was going to be the next Andy walker

Gary Bloody Martindale

I forgot he existed

Another one full of potential and achieved nowt

What really sticks in my mind as well is the steward laughing as Darren chased the United kid around and the terrace threw coins at him. Darren would have got jumped by the heavy mob now and a banning order.

..weird day here today, big earthquake this morning, everyone on edge as the after shocks have been rattling all day.....

Thank the feck it wasn't 5 weeks ago when I passed through.

I went to a lot of reserve games around this time, I remember Giggs playing in one, must have been around 92-93 and was substituted at HT, he then sat with the rest of the subs for the 2nd half, for 45 mins I have never seen anyone get as much shit/grief from the Manny Rd north.

I'm sure Stuart Whittaker played for the 1st team and all the Paddock were singing "Are you watching David Lee", he ripped the opposition a new arse that day , he was rapid.

I was at the reserve game v DMB, that was a fantastic atmosphere, nice and sunny too :)

Any one else on here go to the shithole in Salford early to mid 70's Lancashire youth cup final when they had that Frank O Farrell as manager....I was with the Warbies we were right behind him singing "Shit on O Farrell" we won the game and took no prisoners on the way out...happy days !!

Stuart Whittakers sister was our waitress in a bar near Aintree once when we played Liverpool away - very good looking girl too. As you were

Things must be seriously bad at Old Trafford if they are losing to our reserves!! I went to a Manchester Cup Final a few years ago and it would only be 2008 or 2009 when Eagles was playing central midfield for Man Utd and getting a lot of abuse from the home fans for being an underachieving non passing mard git.Josh Vela was the best midfielder on the pitch that night but they won it with two late goals.

Chris Eagles left OT in 2008 when Josh Vela was 14. #talkingbollocksasusual

You are bob on with that pal. I attended both Man Utd v Bolton cup finals in 2008 and 2011 at Old Trafford and it was 2008 when Eagles played and 2011 when Vela was the outstanding performer.

I was there, may have been with you, can't remember but we were on the Stretford End.

I also remember a match about the same time at Burnden. McIlroy was playing for them and Big Sam, Reidy and co for us. Got thrown out ( the one and only time) for climbing over the fence with about 50 others to go to the Embankment for the second half. Got marched all around the ground to the exit to loud boo's ( for the bobby, not me) managed to get back in to the main stand to loud applause from the fans. :)

my mum managed to get arnie sidebottom to give her the vs as he was sent off in a reserve game at burnden

made the family proper proud

i remember mark hughes scoring a hat trick in a youth cup game

and beckham taunting the manny road stand as a kid - proper bollocks (or stupid) that lad

No update of when or where we are playing Wigan?

I might fancy that.

Don't be silly. That would involve the club being informative before the night of the event.
