Traf
An outsider might suggest the league would be more competitive if it didn't boil down to who could afford the best pro. Leagues without pros are often very tight. 2 pros scoring all the runs and taking all the wickets doesn't keep local lads interested. Site Supporter superjohnmcginlay Posted June 30, 2015 Author Site Supporter Share Posted June 30, 2015 Most are happy to start in the lower division and play without a pro. Only seemed to be Flixton and Atherton wanting to be competitive in the top division. Daisy don't have the funds for a decent pro, that's certain. Well when u say decent one that would make a difference, our pro last year wasn't good enough for Horwich, Atherton and Flixton have a bit of revenue. Standish, Darcy, Golborne don't have any to spend to make them competitive, Was always going to be the case.
Whizz
First 'engagement meeting' for the GMCL clubs at Clifton last night. Was owt interesting brought forward? Have they told clubs what division they're in yet?
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 2, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2015 Was sat outside the meeting whilst watching the young un play. Despite the open windows couldn't hear what was being said. Just glad they were done before the first thunderstorm came

Whizz
2 divisions in 2016 is what the majority of the existing association clubs want. They want this mainly because a lot of clubs are skint and don't want to field a professional. They also believe there will be too many mismatches if it's one division of 22. That in my opinion is bollocks. If they go straight to 2 divisions the issue is deciding on who goes where.

DazBob
One division, for the first season, for me, then split into two based on where you finish. Simples. Promotion and relegation makes it much better IMO.
scoobydoo
Think we all voted on the belief it was 1 season of 1 division then split but if there have been promises made to the association then it is reasonable to expect the clubs to re-assess their position. Whites man
Always thought the remaining 12 Bolton League clubs would form division one with the new comers division 2. Hopefully promotion/relegation will be 3 places to keep interest going and make relegation not a calamity.
