  • The only mistake Gartside made with Coyle was not sacking him before it was too late.   Every man and his dog wanted him appointed at the time.

  • b u l l s h i t   shall we take the emotion out of it and stick to fcuking facts?   unbeaten in 4   8 points   a ppg average that season that if repeated over the second half would've kept us

  • we had 6 points in his last 4 games, including two home games where we 2 goals up and only drew. (City and Hull) drew with city, hull burnley and beat west ham.   We had 1 point in the 4 before that.

If they both played it meant we had to play an extra central midfielder to have any attacking threat. But we didn't have a good enough striker to play 4-5-1 in the relegation season because K Davies was over the hill and the others not up to it.

We got overrun in midfield all season. Only when Muamba came in did that change, but Coyle didn't see it as a long term solution. When you've got Petrov and Eagles on the wings, we were crying out for Muamba and it was there for all to see. Not that I'm suggesting that Mark Davies shouldn't have played a part too.

I'll still never forgive Coyle for dropping Muamba for the Wigan game, after playing out of his skin the game before. Absolute madness.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. It's great taking two different sentences of a post and putting it together isn't it?

Here's the two sentences in their entirety:

Dougie will come good. Even if he doesn't succeed here, he'll be a top manager IMO. I know that sounds daft as we don't see what happens behind the scenes, I'm happy to be proven wrong, and I agree that some of his team selections have been dodgy, but you can tell this is a very clever man who is fully focussed on several aspects of the club for the long term.

I refuse to believe that you can't read that metaphorically. But I'll rephrase it just for you:

I'm happy to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong if Dougie fails to succeed here. I obviously wouldn't be happy if he does fail, as I want the best for my football club.

Lost a lot of fans over lisbon too did gartside. Tells fans to avoid doccas area then he's spotted there himself. Told megson to pick a shit team and save themselves for wigan the following sunday which we went on to lose 1-0 against 10 men for 87 minutes. We would of been in that europa final that year

All true and no one more gutted by missing out on the possible final day out in Manchester, however people in high positions have to make massive judgement calls on this occasion it was the wrong call whether it was Gartsides call or megsons I don't know, what I do know is that a virtual second string drew in Bayern and maybe thought we could do it again. I'm not going to hang Gartside if it was his call as I'm 100% sure he would have been acting in what he thought was our best interests. No one has yet been created who does not make mistakes.

You haven't met our Maude

and having kevin davies who had just played for england

i do agree our strength wasn't up top

all the more reason to be strong in the middle

anyway, mr58 is reet

lets keep the cnut out of my head

he depresses me

Hmm, yes and no. Not to many fans. Muamba got better every game he didn't play. He got plenty of abuse by many for his abysmal passing and wayward shooting (Loftus Road aside)

What was the muamba song again?

Not the one that was sung after his collapse, the one before.

Stick these stats on your Cv Owen.

I'm with Coyle on that 1 then Muamba's was useless piece of shit

Did somebody not claim Could was responsible for Muamba having a spazzy heart because he didn't play him enough.

Not being match fit could have been a major factor

only a mentalist would come out with something like that

Them two were frustrating as you could see them coming a mile off soon as he went off

Sordell came on in that Norwich one. Think he chucked him on at 2-0

Was that Norwich away? I remember throwing that away game away (I thought it was a draw though) - it was classics Coyle

I didn't mind the signings as we made them, they just turned out to be shit.

Coyles biggest error was being too stubborn to learn & giving players responsibility for their own fitness regime.

If you go back, there was quite a few of us on here in the Muamba camp prior to the WHL game

Yes he was limited in attacking ability but his role was a vital and important one for us, that was recognised by many of us

Coyle made an almighty hash of managing him

And us in general

Oh yeah there definitely were, think traf was one of his supporters too, but start of that season and season before many were slating him.

I agree with post further up regarding his signings, I felt I could see why he was making them e.g Sordell but they have failed. But when trying to sign strikers for 3.5/4m it is going to be tough compared to his predecessors who spent similar amounts on defenders and bigger fees on strikers.

Still goes to show why fans don't run football clubs generally because everyone wanted Coyle

They lost it at home in a lot of ways though. Megson took Helguson of when we were 1-0 up and Helguson was playing well. Helguson was taken of to rest him for the next league match. Megson did his usual trick of putting a defender on for a striker if I remember rightly and consequently invited pressure on us and we conceded. This handed Lisbon the initiative over in Portugal. At the point where Helguson went of I felt he still looked like scoring and if he had, going to Lisbon with a 2-0 lead the result would  have been very different. Even if we had taken a 1-0 lead, I still think the result may have been different.

Going to Lisbon at 1-1 killed our chances as we were always going to be up against it from there on in.

That's brilliant

Coyle hadn't got a clue on how to close a game out, many examples above. A midfielder like Muamba who could close down and deny the opposition space was key to that.

Whatever Megson's faults, he was 10 times better at this, like Middlesboro away that we had to win or Bayern or Atletico, etc. I could give you 10 of 'em.

Unfortunately, the brain dead couldn't see it and they got what some of us didn't deserve.

There we go, they still don't realise it even now.

Megson was sacked when we were 19th in the table after failing to defend leads against Burnley and Hull.

Amazingly (to you maybe), even with Muamba on the pitch for the whole match we failed to defend a 2-0 lead at home to Hull...

Fuckin ell don't start all the Megson stuff again.

I don't think I can handle it.

What a smarmy smug cunt belittling the fans like that
