The terraced streets up Daubhill are alreet, they've improved in the last twenty years or so, but there's been grants too, I think it's an area you can't really generalise about, some Pakistani origins families live in pretty scruffy houses some live in improved houses. Doing up your house isn't enshrined in their religion either, but tipping up (20 percent I think) is... Like you say, I think it's daft too, but no different than Christian and Jewish communities used to do, or indeed still do in some cases, didn't they complete some religious project in Manchester recently, to get out of no work on Shabbas (shabba!)? Most of the moronic comments, before they get wiped, seem to think the local council is funding these mosques, or along those lines.

June 18, 201412 yr Daughter is still at Turton, albeit in the 6th form. It is the 6th form which has the large intake of Asians; whether they're Muslim or any other religion, I couldn't comment. I shall ask when I get home. I'm hearing Arkwright's Pub has been bought for conversion into an Islamic School.
