Liverpool knew they were buying damaged goods when they bought him for a smaller fee than Andy Carroll (on the same day). That price meant they understood there was a risk, and one they would not be able to insure against. So tough luck.

Suarez was suspended at the time but only had a year left on his contract, Carroll had 4 they also signed Torres for £20m but got £50m for him, on the same day - which was a ridiculous fee, as was the Andy Carroll deal, especially when you compare his record at the time to Suarez's either way, damaged goods or not, he won't be leaving Liverpool on the cheap, they'll more than recoup what they paid for him I'd have though, maybe 3-4 times over
