  • Flippin well done Jules.

  • They are way way off, and its even harder now than its ever been. They play against really low level and some are barely academies, due to all these Catagories etc. To jump from playing low

Top display.

First teamers should have been "asked" to attend that today.

Hopefully, some did.

Men against Boys. We looked bigger (much!), faster, more powerful and fitter. In addition to being technically superior.

A great game to watch, but that Southern section must be pants!!

You can't Dr. You're absolutely right.

You facetious cunt

Just back & it was a good way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon.

Bolton certainly deserved to win but 7-2 was a little flattering, but oddly also could have been more with Luton only scoring a couple after we'd made a raft of substitutions.

All our defenders were very good, & 7 & 8 completely won their battles in midfield, & several of them could teach McAtee how to head a ball !!

Well done chaps.

Not sure how you can think that’s not being picky. 😂👍😎

We all see things differently, but we could easily have had a couple more.

Good cross headed over in the first half, and big Dave missed a relative sitter.

They were just efficient at finishing the chances they created.

SS would pull his pud off if the first team could match that!

Congratulations pal. Proud day/season for you I imagine.

Yes, it's been great watching them. Brilliant performance yesterday, Luton are no mugs, so to smash them 7-2 shows how good these lads are. Best performance of the season along with beating Blackburn away in the LFA Cup. Blackburn finished 7th in the u18 Premier League North, so gives you an idea of the standard of our squad. B team should be good next season.

Congratulations, you must be chuffed, they were very good yesterday.

My own feeling is that it might be a year too soon for them to be in the 1st team (squad )

, especially with the danger of halfwits getting on their back if they're not brilliant from the word go

What do you think would be best for their development, moving to the B team (would they still be with Jules ? ) or going out on loan ?

As far as we know, Jules will likely be U18 coach again next season so will only be with the 1st yr pros when they drop down and play for 18s (can have 2 outfield). Personally I think 3 are physically ready for 1st team and the rest need more time to develop. There weren't many B team matches this year and quite a few of the 18s played in B team games. I think a few of the 18s will start with the 1st team in pre-season and depending on  how they do with that, will determine what happens. Schumacher is miles more open with the academy boys. My lad has been there since age 5 and evatt never spoke to him once.

This just baffles me. Why wouldn’t you!? It’s such an easy thing to do to create an improved atmosphere throughout the club, increase drive and ambition for the young lads and generally just be a nice person/ good leader. I get it that most of these lads probably won’t end up playing for Bolton, but for the sake of giving up a small amount of your time, there are so many benefits.

I’m not Evatt bashing for the sake of it, but little indicators like this say a lot about a person in my mind.

Who knows what his motivation was. A lot of football is about being confident enough in yourself to relax and play without distraction. Schumacher invited my lad and another younger one to train with the 1st team a few weeks after he arrived. Had a good chat with them before as they were both shitting it. So next time they trained with them it was easier. Bit of a paradox really as I think the success of this 18s team is partially down to evatt hardly involving them at all with 1st team stuff, being left with jules and playing regularly together. At lots of other academies the best players were already with 1st team much more often than our lads over the last few years.

Suppose that's where good management of the system as a whole helps.

Gradual introduction to first team for a flavour of it, but not too much so as to keep them grounded.

Well done to your lad, and all the rest of them.

Was a joy to watch such a quality performance.

To be fair on Evatt, it's hard to talk to everyone if you're only doing 2 days a week at the club.

I recall Freedman* telling fringe players not to sit with the first team for lunch. Vela, who'd played a few times forvthevfirst team was especially upset ... iirc he was actively moved from one table to another.

(* if not Freedman I apologise ... a bit).

Great Britain founded on such principles - High Table, Senior Common Room, Junior Common Room.

Such backward thinking.
