Apparently Abramovich has already spent over £100m in sacking managers. Lampard alone will get a clear £8m, plus the cost of all his support staff.

Lampard did well last season, but has been a victim of his spending. 

Think it was a mistake letting certain players go out on loan, whilst hoping to bed in such a new team.

That said, I reckon its a poor decision: young manager bound to make mistakes.

Sadly, it's all about the CL, and he didn't look like he was going to get them there after spending about £200M, so he just had to go. It's the way football is now, as there are 6 or 7 clubs for whom CL qualification is a the absolute minimum that they'll accept, which obviously is an issue. FA Cup and League Cup, absolute shite, none of the large clubs give a fuck about them these days.

The fans wanted rid of Sarri as they saw him too negative, but with them having the transfer embargo I doubt any world class manager would have come in

Appoint fans' favourite to appease them, then give £200m to an inexperienced manager, probably partly to make up for not being able to spend the year before

On paper, you can't knock the signings but it was expecting a lot of him given he'd only had a couple of years at Derby in the Championship

Aye. That's why its a bit odd getting rid so quickly. No point appointing him in the first place. Would have been better letting him develop elsewhere and making a move later if he proved himself.

or, Chelsea should've stuck by him, an approach that seems to have worked for Utd

saw a table stat thing on SKY yesterday, apparently he's the 3rd worst manager in the Abramovich era in terms of win percentage

second was Villa Boas and top was Hiddink (in his second spell)

the other noticeable thing in the list they showed, he had lasted pretty much twice as long as most the others with over 80 games, so it seems they've been relatively patient compared to normal

So are they just plain old Chelsea again now, as opposed to Frank Lampard's Chelsea?
