I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Villa v Hibs over two legs would be seriously spicy.

Assume you must mean fans? Villa will fucking pan them as far as football is confirmed.

I’ve had a change of plan so had to cancel my hotel for the home game, and not a prayer of a ticket for the away leg. Fans will be an odd one as there’s been a bit of a John McGinn-love in for a while now, but I’m not sure that will necessarily apply to everyone.

Doidge and ALF playing against a top Prem team, who’d have thought.

Hope ALF continues his form from the last time he played Villa!

Didn’t we play a shit-load of away fixtures whilst they completed the Reebok?

Just looked; aways at Southampton (won), Coventry (drew) and Barnsley (lost) took care of the whole of August before we entertained Everton (w.. wo… fucking drew)

Newcastle at home was meant to be the first game on sky but it wasn't going to be be ready so they shifted it

As it was agreed to be on sky we had to play it on a convenient Monday for sky later in the season

So we played a home game on the Saturday v Wimbledon followed by a home game two days later on the Monday night v Newcastle

Won both 1-0

Reckon it's a rarity that a team would play Saturday then Monday in the league, certainly wouldn't happen these days

Something in back of my mind about other teams being given a string of away fixtures at the start or mid season to complete building work on new stands etc, thinking maybe Liverpool but could be wrong.

Actually oddly looking forward to seeing what Luton have done with that side of the ground, I like seeing changes to stadiums. Saw some of a Bristol Rovers game on EFL other day and it looks like there's construction hoardings obscuring part of the view from the corner of that wank away terrace 😀

Odd one this for me

I should want the English team to win but I'm not a fan of Villa (fans), but a bit jealous they get to do Hibs away in a competitive fixture

Likewise I shouldn't want the Scottish team to win and whilst it would be most amusing if they did but that'd kick off the inevitable claim Scotland isn't a pub league and that Rangers and Celtic could challenge for the PL

Will give it a miss

Already in my drafts!

Make no mistake that Villa will win this, and comfortably so. This is a largely dreadful Hibs team that lost in Andorra a few weeks ago

that makes me want Hibs to win more

plus there's ALF playing for them

at least the first leg is at Hibs, should make it interesting

Let’s not forget that Doidge is back with Hibs now, too. One of the great pairings of European competition.

Current rumour is an away allocation of 1,000 for each game. Barmy.

Think Sheff U could be in trouble this season. Pundits don’t fancy them and now lost first two games

Client of mine is a sheff utd fan, he thought they'd be doomed before they sold their best player - Berge.

Hamer is good, but otherwise they're actually worse than the side that started last season in the Championship

Sheff Utd have nothing to base any hope on other than challenging for the lowest PL points tally

Forest look settled now and decent, should have more than enough to stay up

Out with the lout

Were great second half spurs

They need to spend some of that kane money on a striker tho

Weekend saved. Love the yids.

Bolton 2nd I’d of took todays outcome all day long.

All in all, no other results compare though- a win today and it doesn't matter whatever anyone else does.

Oldham at chesterfield looked lively

For some unknown reason I ended up in the Chesterfield end at Oldham a few years ago in the JPT semi final second leg. Jack Lester scored a stoppage time winner to send them to Wembley and it was fucking mayhem, Oldham broke into the away end and they were having a right do with eachother up and down the aisles.

One for the unusual rivalries list, but I suppose their paths will have crossed fairly regularly over the years.

Another two for Bellingham yesterday
