I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

You go in JD? I use that one

Sure do pal.

7:30-8:30 most nights.

5-6ish at weekends if I'm not in alcoholic self destruction/winter mode.

They really need to switch that AC the cunts.

Some of skimpy clothing the instagram lasses where in there leaves me absolutely disgusted :)

It's outrageous! Time for a WWays fact finding mission I think.

They've been skimping on costs there, AC used to be on all the time, then they had a problem with it and had to put fans in, now nothing.

Yes, such attire shouldn't be permitted really, mind you, when I usually go in of a morning, with the old biddies, it's a bit more modest 🤣

In my previous gym there was this old bird in her 60s or 70s

Clearly had work done back in her prime

Things were starting to give up

Except for her tits

So she showed them off

It was very confusing

If you’re not going to enjoy your first trophy in 70 odd years then I’d suggest that club isn’t for them

Bit binary - read the website - it's the issue about a club they've supported all their life, represents their area and it's being used as a way to launder global reputations.

It's an interesting read regarding the dichotomy of supporting and at the same time being used.

And the bodies that run the game allowing this to happen.

Fans should be annoyed.

Hopefully they don't run him into the ground which they've  done with one or two youngsters recently

I'm not sure that many feel used.

You could also argue that putting their money in, can boost an area.

City have had a whole complex created, which benefits the community.

Yes it might be somewhat distasteful, but if some of that money flows from their pockets downwards, should fans really be annoyed?

I remember one old time labour mp (maybe Frank Field/Denis Skinner) saying that he would swallow his pride (at some method or other or funding) and accept the money if it benefitted his constituents.

Yes, there may well be a dichotomy, but it can also yield a better, bigger picture.

Bit at what cost? Are people happy being used as a washing exercise because our own government's have repeatedly failed to invest in areas of the country not doing well?

It's completely myopic to just take the cash without any view to where it's coming from and why - they aren't doing it for the good of Gateshead out of a belief it's important - these fuckers cut the heads of people who disagree with them!

Talking about Frank Field shows how removed from this global issue most fans are.

Its also a bit of cognitive dissonance that those with the more, shall we say, aggressive views on Islam are quite happy to let certain things like putting money into football clubs slide.

Which, is again, why these regimes do it.

And don't get me started on multi club ownership! 😁

It certainly needs to be put on the government, and then the premier League, before it's ever put on the fans

There's nothing Newcastle fans etc can do but voice displeasure

Or they can do nothing

Both have the same consequence, nothing, because it's out of their control (unlike Germany)

The government would need to stop doing business with or sanction countries with dodgy regimes before anyone can stop them taking over or owning clubs

See Ambramovich at Chelsea

Not just the government but the unelected (by fans) leaders at Fifa and UEFA.

Actually the Conservatives did a bang up job with their last paper on this, and fair play to them for that.

As fans, yes it feels powerless, but we should support the reporters and MPs who are doing things to tackle this issue.

Fifa is a corrupt mess from top to bottom and they use powerless fans like us as their leverage.

If only Arsenal could turn it around in Paris, England would be in with a chance of all three trophies because two are in the bag unless something extraordinary happens. Can't see it but football is a funny game.

Being undisputed kings of Europe would be a wonderful springboard for the upcoming World Cup especially with a 'threepeat' in 2026 (bloody yanks).

Don't think we are there at the elite level and that Zico has likely placed a wise bet. He'll balls it up by backing a 5-0 result in one of the games. You can bank on that.

There is only so much a government can do in a financial sense with regards to investment in a nation's infrastructure, businesses etc.

It hasn't endless cash.

Of course they can create the best possible conditions, but private investment is always required and indeed sought-after.

Much of Saudi wealth is from western nations buying petroleum products, so in turn getting some of that back is welcome.

Not sure what your comment about an mp is getting at.

I don't think it was him actually, but the point still stands; taking the bigger picture into consideration can make a bitter pill easier to swallow.

There is a lot of "unpleasant" money sloshing around the world, from all sorts of people. It may have been "washed" multiple times.

Without it, our (or any) civilised nation would rapidly descend the wealth scale.

For example, we have a fashion industry with a terrible record on workers, pollution etc. Consumers are increasingly aware of such issues, but few will bother changing their habits greatly.

Many industries are the same, but there isn't the same level of outcry for some reason.

A curious paradox in many ways. Those carping most about Saudi sports washing usually leap to the defence of anything with the remotest connection to Mecca.

Then again, they are the same closet reds who despise super wealth in all of its forms.

I've lost at least £230 backing 5-0 at £5 every game this season

First one in three it's not even come close

I think my £5 per game bet next season will be losing half time/winning full time
