Guest
I'm sure they're lovely people, but too many Yorkshire players get promoted above their ability thanks to the Boycott/Vaughan axis of hype. He's taking Taylor's spot, not for the first time in their careers. Lyth to be replaced by Lees?
famouswanderer
Nice drop, Clarkey He's had an absolute mare. Should of bowled first at the toss. Two failures with the bat, dropped catch. MalcolmW
Nowt on Cricinfo to that effect but he's number 29 on the list of Yorkshire caps. I recall seeing a scorecard for an ancient Yorkshire match which included a Bairstow (and furthermore I think he was the wicketkeeper), which caused me to look (unsuccessfully of course) on Cricinfo and then google Yorkshire caps. Guest
The ones I have met today have been good lads. The ultimate contradiction; how come they are the nicest people until it comes to cricket? Having visited Australia a few times, they are the friendliest people until it gets to the Ashes

MalcolmW
This 'un: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Bairstow Excellent, but it still begs the question as to whether (and if so how) he is related. Specialist wicket keeper (albeit usually batting at 11) from Bradford are both indicators, but I'm sure Bairstow is a Bradford name.

As Arthur died (near Knutsford) 6 years before David was born, and David died when Jonny was 8, it does seem feasible that Arthur is Jonny's great-great-grandfather or a sibling of same without Jonny and Andy even being aware.
