Next Season

I love Lenny. I'd offer him a contract extension now, as whatever it is that you can't bottle, he has it, he is a winner. He's clearly doing extended trials with some of these loans, so pipe down strange decisions critics. He arguably should be doing better with what he has, but I have faith. What did get me was his body language after the Cardiff game - shoulders down, looking down, no zip in the way he was applying himself. Now it could be that he just wants the season done, but still you just turned over Cardiff in their back yard! I hope it's not something more serious where he can't be fuked with the job, too much hassle, too big a job. I hope I'm very wrong because I've got a lot of time for Lenny

Close season Ill take you on for a small wager, why not? You can build a decent team of frees and cheap players for this league.

Odds?

Im gonna have a bet on bristol city to finish above us

Home form can get you play offs & promoted.

Away form wins you championships.

BB, keeping it basic & factual

we finished 3rd tho that season

I'm quite optimistic about next season, if Lenny can get 2 or 3 quality players and keep the likes of Bogdan Bannan, Clayton, Clough Alf, Ream, Eider, Pratley and maybe a couple more from the academy, I reckon we could have a team to challenge.

Because of the home form.

Because of the home form.

tbf Fulham and Blackburn had good sides that season

Because of the home form.

Thought our away form was summat like our 2nd best ever?

Aye, fair few draws at home and tough to beat on the road

Fat Sams form when he got west ham promoted was almost identical

They were. Wasn't that the longest time that all 3 promoted sides lasted in Premier before any got relegated?

It was definitely the first time all 3 stopped up in their first season.

That Friday night game v Blackburn was grim.

I thought  Lenny sounded real positive during the post match interview though.

We were looking like relegation fodder ten games in..

Most of that squad is now injured.. And we're now mid table..

We will be pushing play off next year..

Seems to be an awful lot of naïveté in this thread.

Next season we will again be cutting costs, getting rid of our high earners and replacing them with cheaper alternatives.

That tends to indicate that we won't do as well next season as this. Sorry to inject reality into the discussion....

Will it?

Have you had Big Phil round for Brunch??

Not far off...

We wont be in the top 10 imo

Let's get a good pre-season under our belts, get key players back from injury and allow Lenny to work his magic shall we, and see where that takes us. Or we could just carry on moaning like fuck through the entire summer, if you prefer?

Hear, hear.

If Lennon is able to use our (last) parachute to reasonable effect, then we should be able to mount a challenge.

Just because you pay someone a big wage packet doesn't mean they're a better player than someone you can get in on half the money. Lots of talented youngsters out there who would not command a large pay packet

Of the high earning out going players this season I'd only have Baptiste down as better than anyone that's come in.

It really is a myth.

I wouldn't swap Spearing or Andrews for anyone currently In our squad.

That's where we are at - good scouting, especially overseas. I reckon we will pul in a few from overseas, work with some of the youth, some loan work and work out contracts for a couple of the potential leavers for experience.

Not sure it's a recipe for promotion, but I think we will be comfortable next year.
