Next Season

This article from a Boro fan sums up my feelings about the championship at the moment.

It's a daft article. By his logic they might as well be relegated to League One and then they'd win even more games. The reason that Boro's gates have risen this season is that people think they might go up. If they kept missing out, the novelty would wear off.

Not much difference to the feelings of many (including myself) when we threatened for the play offs under Dougie. He's right about Hibs as well.

Think he's nailed it to be honest. I was bored stiff of that league when we came down. Winning games is what you want as a fan. I think we should slide into the conference then blow em all out the water. Ok, second bit might be exagerating

Exactly. What is the point of winning games if you don't want to end up going up? A nonsense.

And you might end up doing a Swansea or even a bolton

I totally agree with him, i've said it time and time again, apart from the money it brings into the club i couldn't give a flying fuck if we never went up to the prem again

Which is why we must aspire to that level.

Which is why we must aspire to that level.

I know we must for the sake of the club but i personally think it's shit being there

I understand the logic.

If football just fucked Sky off we could go uo and have an equal chance

It would make no difference. In fact without the Sky money in the premiership the gap might be even larger between the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd and the likes of Bolton, Blackburn and Fulham etc.....

Ie the Spanish league.

I personally think Sky do a great job. Without their money a lot of clubs would have gone bust a long time ago.

Considering 99% of Sky Subscribers and Advistisers are paying for top level football,it's only ethics that lead to lower league teams get anything at all.

We should go back in time and all teams share the money from attendances equally both home and away that would help the smaller clubs compete.

That's the point, they don't want smaller clubs to compete!

as i mentioned that was one of the big things that affected the smaller clubs ability to compete

but nowhere near as big as abolishing the maximum wage

Divisional salary caps rather than maximum wage could work.

Bang on, the day Bolton lost ground was the day teams could pay more than us.

Admittedly the bosman ruling means a return to the good old days would never be quite the same, but certainly a start.

Divisional salary caps rather than maximum wage could work.

Sadly due to the global nature of football nowadays I can't see any salary cap coming in.

It would balance out there league for the die hard club fans. But the armchair support and 'best players' who are the money spinners would go to a different league without a cap.

Divisional salary caps rather than maximum wage could work.

isnt that what football league ffp is supposed to achieve, while not penalising teams who can get cash in through the gate?

Or teams have suffered financially trying to to compete in the Prem. Goes both ways.

Sky do a great job in presenting football, but the impact of all that money isn't necessarily a good one.

Sort of, but it's not as restrictive on where clubs can and can't get their money from.

Some clubs just can't get big crowds.

You are Tony fernandes. Where do I claim my prize?

Lennon has achieved objective no 1 which is to keep us in this Division after the appalling start.

Objective no 2 is to have us up there next season. So he has to be given time and it's way too early to judge.

Better organised defence, including a proper RB, Craig Davies or an OK target man and Pratley fit, I think that he has a reasonable chance without huge spending.

I think what happens with Bogdan will be a big indicator of our ambition. I've been one of his critics but now deffo with Traf and others who reckon he's our best keeper. Without being held to ransom obviously but if we could keep Bogdan I think it would be a serious statement of intent. There aren't any massive clubs in for him (yet) and if he stays and is made undisputed No 1 it would be a massive boost for us, for Neil Lennon who clearly rates him (can't see him sticking around either if our best players are just allowed to leave) and be a great indicator of our ambitions to get out of this League. I honestly think he is that good now. He has made his mistakes with us, learned with us and I would love it if he we could now reap the reward instead of some other club. I hope Lennon can also sell what he's trying to achieve here to Bogdan and convince him he can go places with us.
